No problem. Agreed about the cash grab, it seems a little unnecessary. What kills me is the guitar hero drums appeal to me a lot more but I just didn't like the last game very much.

Alright, so my stock pedal inevitably broke last night. What's the best replacement pedal I can order online?

...and EA/Harmonix make yet another stupid decision regarding Rock Band and the Wii.
The gimped version of Rock Band 1 on the Wii is sure to leave a bad taste in a lot of consumer's mouths so they follow it up by releasing the game a month after GH:WT, a franchise which is already widely popular on the Wii.
It seems pretty ridiculous to basically concede the biggest console market to the competition.

Despite recent comments from execs, EA has basically dismissed the Wii from the beginning. Not surprising to see those dates quoted above. It will take some time for EA to get back on track and put some serious resources into Wii development. Besides, because of the cash that Microsoft paid to get that XBOX 360 exclusivity window, there's no way EA/Harmonix can roll out Rock Band 2 on the Wii in order to compete with GH.

I'm reading that RB2 is going to have a hyperspeed option/cheat. What is hyperspeed and if it makes the game faster, how is that a cheat?

The notes are more spaced out, so it can seem easier to some people, and harder to others.
For me, I find hyperspeed wayyyyyy easier than normal. Just the way my brain processes the info I guess.

Hyperspeed is not a cheat, it's just a method of spacing out the notes.
For example, with 2x hyperspeed, the notes come at you twice as fast. This helps to see the timing better for the notes, but gives you less time to react.

Worried that Rock Band 2 for Wii will be the same scaled-back experience of the original Rock Band? It ain't so.
While we didn't get into nitty-gritty details, I was assured by representatives of Harmonix at E3 this year that the Wii version of Rock Band 2 will be a much more competitive product.
It was understood that this extended to things like downloadable content and online play. While I can't be sure that Rock Band 2 for Wii will have absolutely everything that its next-gen counterparts are packing onto the disc, it's certainly not going to be as disappointing, feature-wise, as the Wii version of the original

So, correct me if I am incorrect. I can buy RockBand for my PS2 today, and then when I get a PS3 in the new year the hardware will work with Rock Band and Rock Band 2 on the PS3? I am I reading that correctly?
I realize I'd probably have to buy the Rock Band disc if I wanted it for PS3.
I just played RB for the first time this past weekend, and I can't stop thinking about buying it.

Your ps2 instruments will work on ps3. If your ps3 isnt backwards compatable then you will need to buy the ps3 disc. But....
May I suggest waiting though?
The RB2 drum kit looks so nice. My suggestion is buy the rb2 bundle and then buy the rb1 game (disc only) just for the extra songs (both games for ps3 so you can get dlc). RB2 comes out september 14th... you dont have that much longer to wait.

^^ or you could just rent the game or borrow from a friend ... apparently that will work as well to get the RB1 songs.

I think september 14 is for the disc only xbox 360 versions. ps3 bundle/xbox bundle is sometime in october, and ps2 and wii in november.
some other news. When RB2 comes out, RB1 will have an update. It will add a "download to harddrive" menu item that will copy the RB1 songs (most of them, there's a few that they can't due to licencing) and convert them as DLC so RB2 can see and play them. Your asked to enter a password (that comes with RB2) and pay a small licencing fee (~$5). You can also go and delete the songs that you hated from RB1 and never see them again. I'm not sure if you can just borrow a copy of RB1 and copy it or if the disc and console ID are recorded so each disc can only be used to copy on a single machine. I guess an easy way to ensure you get all the songs if you don't have RB1 is to rent it before RB2 comes out to ensure your the first to copy the songs.

I've played/sung/drummed that f'n OK Go song so many times it hurts my soul. This is wonderful news.
Also, this is a quote from Kotaku that lead me to believe you could rent or borrow a copy of RB1 to do the transfer:
Quote:
So will you have to actually ‘own’ a copy of the original Rock Band game to do this?
No.
There appears, as of now, no DRM tracking on anything to indicate you rightfully own the disc you want to export. So if you missed out on the Rock Band party last year and want to play the old songs, too, all you have to do is rent a copy or borrow someone else’s. It doesn’t seem Harmonix isn’t too concerned, however, as they’re happy you already paid the licensing fee and bought Rock Band 2!

interesting...
good news for my brother, but that kinda tanks the re-sale value for anyone trying to off load RB1
also forgot to mention that for xbox360 and ps3 all the rockband/guitar hero/rock revolution (not that anyone cares about that game) instruments are compatible with each other.

They've confirmed it for the PS3 version?
I know they've said the 360 version will be compatible, but last I heard they were still working out the details for the PS3 version. Hopefully you know nothing I don't.

I think they announced the PS3 compatibility the day before the 360 announcement.
