Depends on who they bring in but yeah me too.
But if they are going to bring in another rookie GM and rookie Coach what's the point. They are going to make the same mistakes and the franchise won't advance. Gotta bring in a guy that has shown he can build a winner.
I have no idea who those guys would be but you get the point.

I'd be okay with giving Richardi another year, as he did improve the team this year (albeit with a huge payroll increase). I'd like to see what he would do this coming off-season.

Love this quote by Ozzie Guillen:
Before he was ejected for the fifth time this season, manager Ozzie Guillen said he admired Toronto manager John Gibbons' restraint during Monday night's confrontation with Ted Lilly. "I'm not sure I would have had that kind of patience--I might have gotten after him on the mound," Guillen said. ...

Anyways, Chacin is on the mound tonight, let's hope he doesn't show too much rust out there.

And Chacin gets yanked in the 2nd, leaving the game with the A's leading 5-0.
How depressing.

Nothing depressing about it. Rios just saved 2 more runs. GO A's!

It sucks he only went 1 and a bit, but you could tell he was rusty. He's a good pitcher, a little more time and practice and I am not worried.

I'm not worried about the future, but rather the present. If he was rusty, he should not have been on the mound today.
The Jays still has a small chance of getting the WC, but they have to go on a massive run soon. Throwing a guy that was obviously not close to game ready isn't going to help the cause.

Again as an Athletics fan, the Jays are really stuck right now. Chacin is still recovering from his injury and clearly he wasnt ready to go out and pitch in a big league game, I mean he was struggling big time in the minors on his rehab starts, but the Jays dont have anyone else to really throw out there cuz the kids that have taken turns this year haven't shown much. And I think some credit should go to the A's, they took some pitches tonight and when Chacin did hit the zone they hit the ball fairly hard. It helps when Loaiza pitches his best game as an Athletic as well. Hopefully the BoSux can hold their lead in their game with Halos so the A's can gain another game on Anaheim.

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to slam the A's or anything....they played well and Loaiza was absolutely on fire. Even with Halladay the Jays probably lose that game.
Just frustrating as a Jays fan to watch the inconsistent, pathetic pitching all season long. And tonight was just another nail in the coffin. With Chacin in there they didn't even have a chance, which is the most depressing thing.

Do you really thinks so? I'm not sold on Chacin, now or in the future. Although I hope that he proves me wrong...

Well Gibbons has the full support of Ricciardi: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=175230&hubname=
"If we let him go there'd be five teams waiting to hire him," Ricciardi said.
But clearly Gibbons will be on a short leash in 2007, the final year of his current contract, since Ricciardi has no plans to offer him the safety of an extension any time soon. That keeps all of Ricciardi's options open, including manager change, should the team slump next season.
"We just gave him an extension (on April 27, 2005)," Ricciardi said. "There's no need to rush."

JP is doing alright. To be a consistent winner, they either need a bottomless wallet (a la Yankees, BoSox, et al) or a strong farm system, and that can take years to build. I'm not sure how the Jay's minor system is ranked, but I recall back in the Gillick days it was always ranked near the best so there was always a young player to fill in or as trade bait in exchange for the player they needed.

"It's going to be really tough to catch these guys if we stay at a $70-million payroll. It doesn't mean we can't be good, we can't compete. I just don't think you're going to see a chance to win 95, 100 games," the Blue Jays general manager told the Sun. "It's not sour grapes, or anything. It's just the reality. We'll be competitive, but up to a point."
I'm sure the players love that quote, even if it may be true. Basically if they don't get an increase in the payroll next season they're expected to miss the playoffs?
Wow, what a confidence builder!
I really think this is a stupid thing for Riccardi to say.

WTF is with this team? No run support again for Halladay. Way to **** away his chances at a Cy Young. And Gibby, why would you give him the hook after an 8th inning where he struck out the last two batters? I told my wife they were going to gag away the lead. I hate it when I'm right.
