sure. now compare drafting records outside the first 3 spots in the draft (though Jets still living large quite a bit off 2011-17ish)

I think McDavid is tired. He has played a stupid amount of hockey over the past couple of years. The Oilers burned their star player out.

The underachieving teams that were supposed to be good usually fire their coaches in like november/december/january.

It is delightful that we are even having this discussion.
Lou Lamoriello of New Jersey fired Claude Julien with 3 games left in the season and in first place. They went on to win the cup that year.

Sorry, won the cup the next season.

It was Ftorek, not Julien I think. It was Larry Robinson who took over.

A couple years later Ftorek was fired by the Bruins in a similar fashion - late in the season with a good record.

EDIT: Lou did fire Julien almost the same way, but that was in 07. He hired Sutter the next season but he never got out of the first round and was fired two years later.

Does McDavid even have as many points as MacKinnon and Kucherov in the past 3 seasons?

You mean all those 27 minute nights with full PPs and OTs were going to add up and wear him down?

Never would've guessed. I'm shook.

In Brown's defense, if Skinner drove to the net he probably would have had an opportunity there.

It takes two checked out players to make that play.

Here’s something fun. Allegedly the oilers were in on rantanen. It doesn’t matter if they were close. Knowing what it took from Dallas, and knowing the oilers draft picks and prospects, the offer had to be heavy on active players.

Assuming no Mavi or pissy, that means it’s the b players. So the tenderness, maybe nurse, maybe boo boo, maybe Hyman? Likely at least 2 of that group.

It affected marner. What happens when these players find out that they were being shopped?

Also to add, I don’t think 2 of these players gets the trade for rantanen done.

They must be very sad that they didn't get to leave Edmonton.
