So can we be brutally honest and not engage in self-deception in trying to paint this as a great series? Two competitive games, four blowouts, and some genuinely painful stretches of basketball from both teams. Add in the stupid ass threes day breaks and it's been a slog more than anything. Game 7 is either Pacers Satanism finishes the job or a 40 point Thunder win, doesn't feel like there will be anything else.

For aesthetic reasons. SGA is incredible...but its tiresome to watch him push off all night and then get the whistle he does.

Nemhard+Mathurin are just more likeable than Shai+Dort. Add in Siakam and Canadian fans can't really lose here. (tbh I'm not really a Raptors fan but I do like Pascal)

Also, TIL that Aaron Wiggins isn't related to Andrew when I checked to see if I missed any Canadians.

It's all but guaranteed this will be the lowest viewed game seven in ages. There isn't much anticipation for the game. I guess it's true that without any of the major markets that people tune out. Although it seemed there was an audience for Denver winning two years ago. The product felt that much better only a short time ago. Same as the Raptors prepandemic, although they were facing the vaunted Warriors team.

Everyone expected a blowout, yet the Thunder haven't showed up, yet still will probably win the series. I could see them winning by 30 like they did in the Denver series. Even then OKC were hot and cold, yet Denver was a much better team than Indiana. Indiana is well coached, and have a pretty deep bench, otherwise they're as average as it gets.

At the end of the day the NHL and NBA seasons both feel way too long. Unless you're personally invested it feels odd watching a finals devoid of star power on a warm Sunday in June. I know SGA is a star, but in terms of name value is he even in the top ten? How many people are flying across country of coming from other countries to watch this game seven because of SGA or Haliburton?

Well it's a 7 gamer, so it has been a competitive series. Neither team has pulled away from the other. In individual games sure there have been blowouts, but neither team has had more than a 1 game lead in the series.

Entertainment wise, it has left a lot to be desired. But it's been a lot better than it would have been if it was a Thunder 4 or 5 game romp.

That type of deal would never have happened under David Stern (to upstage the game 7 final). Frankly, it's selfish for both teams to do it now rather than holding on a couple days.


Anyway, is it me or did he go for a remarkably cheap price by NBA standards? 10th overall pick plus loads of second rounders isn't much. Because of his age I would be weary if I were the Raps too, but I'd have thought someone would offer 4 1sts+ other stuff.

It's early enough in the day that its fine. If anything its probably serves as a positive reminder that there is a game tonight...by this time of year with games every three days it's pretty easy for casuals to forget


37 yo on a 1 year expensive deal - value is probably fair enough for next year, but they'll have to extend him. The track record for 7 footers into their late 30s ain't great
