Who is going to play center? Another trade incoming?

According to Dreger, Flames and Canucks initially discussed Tanev as part of this deal but Flames decided they could get more/better by dealing Tanev separately.

Like the trade, better idea of what the Flames are planning long-term now. Hopefully, we can flip Kuzmenko for a somewhat similar return next year.

From the Canucks stand point this deal is what they wanted to make.

Get a legitimate top six player.
Clear some cap space for the coming off-season
Find a new home for Kuzmenko (who is good and Flames fans will like)

The cost of doing this was a 1st round pick (What everyone expected)
A good prospect (What everyone with a head on their shoulder expected)
Other pieces. (Nothing huge, an NHL long shot and a lower pick. Didn't see it coming but it's not the end of the world).

People saying that Allvin was fleeced just weren't paying attention. This was the type of deal Lindholm was going to get and the type of deal that the Canucks were going to give up (something I mentioned a week ago when this deal was coming to fruition).

Conroy did better than I thought was possible when Friedman was mentioning this possibility a couple Saturdays ago.

I disliked Calgary’s D prospect pool compared to the forwards and Woolf but that has dramatically changed.

As for Kuzmenko - meh. But maybe he could work with Huberdeau (I think the getting going would have to work the other way around right now - Huberdeau’s had a good January and Kuzmenko no so much).

Maybe explains why Huberdeau was playing with Kadri last game.

No, I mean what was in the deal with Tanev? Genuinely curious how much more the Canucks were willing to give.

Just take their 2025 1st and another prospect for Tanev.

I'd take just a prospect. Preferably a forward now.

So is there a reason why Hunter didn't get a deal done before with the Canucks? Is he going to be hard to sign?

Seems like a decent deal for both sides. Have to think that this was the biggest package Conroy could find given the timing.
