Lamar Jackson officially signed his five-year, $260 million contract Thursday, setting NFL records for signing bonus, three-year cash flow and average per season.

But Jackson revealed he has a more ambitious number in mind in this revamped Ravens offense.

"I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have," Jackson said with a laugh. "I'm not an individual award-type guy or a stat watcher. I just want to do that because no one has ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it."

Jackson has never surpassed 3,200 yards passing in a season, but he's clearly excited about Baltimore building the strongest wide receiver group of his career. The Ravens signed Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor in free agency and then drafted Zay Flowers with the No. 22 overall pick.

I read that earlier and laughed. I think 4000 yards is more realistic and even that may be difficult but doable only because of the 17th game. It's that yin and yang thing where if he's sitting in the pocket and not running nearly as much then he's going to face more straight up pass defenses which will make his life more difficult throwing the ball. He's declined as a passer since his MVP season and was simply bad last year.

The NFL Players Association is investigating agent David Canter for allegedly trying to entice teams to select players he represents during the NFL draft last month, sources told ESPN on Friday.

Canter, a longtime agent and the president of football at GSE Worldwide, allegedly contacted several teams throughout the NFL draft weekend offering the use of vacation properties belonging to him and his wife if the team drafted one of his clients, sources told ESPN. Sources described Canter's actions as a "form of bribery."

Jim Brown, one of the greatest professional and college football players of all time, has died. He was 87.

His wife, Monique, announced Brown's death in an Instagram post Friday afternoon. She said Brown "passed peacefully" Thursday night in their home in Los Angeles.

"To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star," the post stated. "To our family he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken..."

In 2020, Brown was selected to the NFL 100 all-time team and also was ranked as the No. 1 all-time player on the College Football 150 list to celebrate those sports' anniversaries. He was named the greatest football player ever by the Sporting News in 2002.

Seems like a bad idea especially with the quality of football Thursday brings.
