I hear so many opinions of the covid vaccine, each with their warnings about what the other side is saying. Who the hell do you trust nowadays? Conspiracy theories? The government? I feel so torn, as I'm late 40's, and have been told to sit down, shut up, and do as you're told all my life. Now people are free to choose, and I think sometimes I'm that little boy just doing as I'm told, blindly trusting a government who has quite frankly sickened and disgusted me in many of their dealings. But the alternative sucks too. So much to ponder. So much information mixed with disinformation. Who is right?
So I'm a good boy and I sit down, shut up, and take my medicine. All the while wondering...
What a world...

Dude. It's so not confusing. Glad you got the shots, though.

One group has the appropriate education and training from actual academic facilities. The others are mouth breathers with a PhD from Twitter/X, and possibly some advanced education from GoogleU.
This should not be a hard choice.

I'm just busting your chops.
I get side-effects too so I have to make sure I get my vaccines at a time when I can afford a few days of downtime.

I know a person who doesn't get the flu shot because they get side effects for a day. It's so bizarre. Have you ever had the actual flu? That MFer can kick your ass so hard you can die at worst, obviously, but you can also be sick for weeks and weeks and it can take months to fully recover. But heaven forbid you have to lay in bed and watch TV for one day to prevent all that misery lol.

Seeing some more masks pop up around places now as well.
Can't get the booster since I just had Covid 1 month ago. Last time I got the booster I got covid 3 months after, and it almost took me out. The booster probably saved my life.

My wifes cousin got the flu several years ago (H1N1) and at first he was just sick. A few days later his wife basically had to carry him to the car and to the hospital. He ended up in a coma for three months and was incredibly close to death. We were kind of hit and miss for the flu shot until that happened, but not anymore!

I know you are; no worries. My wife has also had the flu after getting that shot. She also rarely gets the flu. Side effects…every time.
Question for the masses: if we assume a serious increase in COVID cases, would you attend a family Christmas gathering with a couple of antivaxxers present?

I would. I'm just going to carry on with business as usual. Covid's here forever. If some crazy dangerous strain comes out I'll re-evaluate, but for now I'm just going to live and enjoy and be thankful I should have an easier ride due to being vaccinated when I inevitably contract it again.

Most of the time when people think they have the flu they have a cold.
Have a sore throat, you’re congested, coughing, and tired? That’s likely a cold. But a cold - even a real bad cold - isn’t the flu. A full-blown flu typically involves severe nausea, body ache, and fatigue. Just crawling to the toilet and lifting your head to vomit takes superhuman effort.
We’ve come to conflate colds and the flu because back when people had to justify why they were taking a sick day, it sounded lame to say they had a cold, so they said they had the flu. We said it so much we came to think the bad colds we have are actually the flu.
But an actual flu is ####ing awful. After having it twice in four years in my 30s, I started getting a flu shot every year. It often leaves me with symptoms for a day, which sucks. But it sucks way less than having full-blown flu.

I used to work with a guy who would never get the Flu shot, he considered it 'mumbo jumbo' and would always give me a hard time about it.
For me...its non-negotiable. I admit, I game it a bit by not getting it until Jan/Feb, but thats because prior to that I hardly see anyone other than family and once February hits and Tax Season starts literally hundreds to thousands of people go through my office in 3 months.
Thats when I need my flu shot at its highest efficiency.
And people bitch about co-workers coming to work sick? You havent the faintest idea how many people take a 'sick day' off work and figure..."this is an ideal time to see my accountant and get my taxes done! I have the day off!"
Despite being sick as hell.

Hahaha, classic. Gotta love knocking off some errands around town when you're contagious.

If I’m taking a sick day - real or fake - the last thing I’m doing is running errands. It’s playstation and action movies in a house robe all day.

See, this makes sense to me. You're already sick and don't feel well, might as well heap on the misery of taxes at the same time!

I'm serious! It happens astonishingly often.
That or: "My kid is sick and couldnt go to Daycare today so I took the day off and brought them with me here to get my Taxes done."
Its wild...COVID has taught us nothing. We have learned nothing.

I love to have my annual review meeting with my financial planner on a day when I’m sick. May as well knock off all of the stuff you hate in one fell swoop, amirite?

Seems simple to me. Trust the people who went to school and spent all their professional career studying a subject over a bunch of racist, homophobic yahoos whose biggest skill is using google.
I'll trust my doctor and the people who created the vaccines over someone like David Parker. I honestly don't understand how you can be uncertain.
