I think this is a solid return, at worst the rebuild is delayed. At best the contention window is expanded for a few seasons.

He's tremendous.

Darryl might turn him into a Norris candidate.

He had 44 points last year and averaged more than 23 a night.

Oh fine.

Zadarov - Weegar
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev

…like, we just roll em.

This trade is a win even if we don’t resign them both. If we flip them for assets it’s still more assets than all the rumoured deals.

Huberdeau is elite. More so than Gaudreau and Tkachuk.
Last three seasons:

Huberdeau: 254 points
Gaudreau: 222 points
Tkachuk: 208 points

I have to believe that Treliving has a good idea that they can both be re-signed. I expect it to happen quick.

Trade Hanifin back to his homeland and get it over with. I like him but….

And this is why you still take the best player available even if they don’t want to play for you.
What a haul. I love Tre

Our d-group is rock solid, top to bottom. It's tighttt.

Sutter is going to have fun rolling out those six guys.

I’m very skeptical Huberdeau spends his summers in Calgary but at this point I’ll take it

My guess is Weeger will be looking for around $6m. That would be a good deal. Very good player.

I think some people are really undervaluing the worth of a 24 year old Matthew Tkachuk signed for 8 years. This deal has the potential to be horrible for the Flames.

IF Huberdeau signs an extension, it becomes a close deal. But you also have to keep in mind that Huberdeau is 29 and statistically speaking has already peaked and can expect a decline in a couple of years.

IF the Flames flip them at the TDL, they can get some decent parts back. But you just know that if the Flames are anywhere near a playoff spot by that time, they will walk them to free agency. Recent history suggests that.

Also, I am not sold on Weegar. I think he is part of the list of players who overachieved in Florida (Duclair, Bennett, Marchment). I recall him being absolute dog #### in the playoffs and Florida fans wanted his head on a pike.

So yeah, a lot of this story still has to be determined, but it has the potential in 2 years to amount to just Shwindt and a lottery protected 2025 first rounder when all is said and done. Hard for me to get excited at this point.

FWIW Panthers fans for the most part are super pissed off. That's always a good sign to see from the other team's fanbase after a trade.

Sutter must just be itching to go.
A player with the ability to make others better, put up points as well as his now departed top scorer, but is same age and is bigger and stronger physically.

And Weeger, a guy Sutter can develop further even at the age of 28.

There's still some peices to move around and Sutter will put more of a stamp on this team but my goodness, what a trade.

All the doom and gloomz players still want to play here. JH has to waive or didn't have Calgary on his list.

But then do you bump Andersson? Does he move down to play with Zadorov? He's definitely not bumping Tanev.

Guys, Weegar play 23+ minutes per game on one of the top teams in the NHL last season.

He had 44 points and was a +40

I can't believe this return
