I hope pat doesn't leave and they do everything to keep him. He is a great guy.

I remember how clueless in putting 2 and 2 together that he worked at the fan. This would have been late 2000's, when I went down to shouldice to watch our old high school football team play a game, saw him in the stands and sat with him chatting about the team and what we both were doing these days as we knew each other from jr and SR high school.

I really enjoyed listening to him over the years and seeing him grow and be such an important part of the station. Sadly I don't listen as much anymore as I been working from homr and I have other stuff in the background now.

That industry sounds like a brutal one to work in.

Horrible hours and pay.

[QUOTE=bigdl;8366718]I hope pat doesn't leave and they do everything to keep him. He is a great guy.

He is a great guy however he also has a job because he will toe the line. He and Pinder were defending Gaudreau AND his decision to wait until the 11th hour.

If Pat has a job that's based on "Yes Sir No Sir Three Bags Full" then I don't care if he's a good broadcaster.

The defense of Guadreau yesterday simply means I have no reason morning or afternoon to listen anymore.

Pat can go too, I like rock n roll although it is hard to find a good rock station where the DJs aren't "out of work comedians".

This morning show is just horrible. Absolutely no personality or substance. I guess it's audio books in the morning going forward.

I feel for Pat. Damn, I hope he lands a similarly prominent role on whatever station picks up the rights next.

I can't imagine not hearing him on air.

This week is something else for this calgary-based hockey fan..

I dont understand this.

960 has the rights to broadcast Flames games.

How do they just "pull the plug" on that contract?

Is it that 960 as a station has the rights or Rogers has the radio rights? Because you can broadcast a game on any radio station. 960 could change format and the games could be broadcast on 660 for example?

Don't know if it works that way. 960 has gone down hill recently, but it will be a shame if this city is left without a full-time sports radio station.

Having the same reaction as Boomer re: Gaudreau today.

Less money?!
No playoffs?!
Irrelevant team?!
Not even home?!

True they could change stations....but it would be very strange to go to an all news station every game night and turn it into 4 hours of hockey.

They also own JACK FM, which could broadcast the games as well. Though that really limits broadcast area Im assuming.

Isn't that was 66 CFR was? I think that was an "oldies" station and then the Flames games were broadcast there. That was a long time ago though, so I could be misremembering that.

I would assume it will just be a national radio broadcast from Toronto played across all SN radio stations with local content like Flames games subbed in as needed.

He did give a brief goodbye and explained his situation. It looks like they cut it from the end of the hour 3 podcast.

I suspect this is exactly what they will do. I'm not sure how much local coverage they are even doing in the evening on 660 now.
I suspect it will be national news coverage on non game nights, pulling in the feed from Toronto, and then on game nights they broadcast the Flames.
Or as someone said, 960 keeps the games regardless of a new format they use.
960 could also still be sports, but just all from Toronto, except on game nights.

Going into a football game after a day of a lot of other stuff is what QR77 does.

Nope you are correct.

770 had it before them as well IIRC.
