Please lock this poll at 730 tonight.
Flames the superior team, organization, coach, uniform, city, fanbase.
Flames play the way they have all season, hard to see any team beating them 4 out of 7. Oilers especially who rely on solid power play and not much else.
Keep the emotion out and Flames will be fine, confidence high from last series and there no surprises either with the Oilers.

Did you actually cite a player’s stats from a year ago? Where did Barrie stand this year?

Tanev is a good puck mover who is also an elite defender.

I feel like Amazing Oilers has been very successful at trolling this board.

My Thoughts on this BoA:

- Top Line has the potential to dominate this series

- Andersson-Hanifin will be better vs the Oilers

- Backlund line can swing the series greatly in the Flames favor

- Powerplay will turn it around after some tough numbers vs Dallas. PP looked good, but were stoned by Oettinger

- Flames’ heaviness and physicality on Oilers’ defense could severely hamper their breakouts

- Flames checking game vs the Oilers will ultimately determine the series

- Key to defending McDavid will be to defend him in layers or better yet, make him defend instead

- Controlled discipline will be important as the Oilers’ powerplay drove their success and momentum in this year’s season series. Would be wise for the team not to shoot themselves in the foot

- Killer instinct will be important, because it’s the Oilers, step on them and don’t let them off the hook. Make them fear you after this playoff series.

But saying that he played the best generational player games ever seen is just either a flat out lie, or flat out stupid. If someone is going to come and troll and opposition board . . . man . . . at least be good at it and don't make yourself look like a fool.

The Oiler fanbase needs to send better a quality of trolls for us to toy with.

The extent to which a person believes trolls are in it to win reasonably debated arguments is the extent to which trolls are going to succeed in trolling that person.

Crosby on his cup runs was the most complete player I think I've seen play. Aside from fighting, it was amazing how he did everything at such a high level for his team to win. McDavid is a scoring machine, but even in his 30s I would still take Crosby over him to win a playoff series.

Our Goalie had maybe the worst game of his career and we still won by 3 lol. What a dominant, statement game from the Flames. We have so much diversity and ability.

Want to play a tight, defensive game? No problem.
Want to play a fast, high scoring game? For sure.
Need to be tough and mean? You got it.

This bodes well for a long playoff run.

The goalies were bad, and will be better. So we can put that aside and move on. However, there were still some things to be discerned from this game:

1) PK. It is pretty much universally agreed that if the Oilers are going to have a chance in this series, they need their PP to carry them. The Flames' PK was dominant in the Dallas series, but the Oilers' PP was also dominant against the Kings. So which team could step up? The Flames' PK absolutely destroyed the PP. Just completely shut them down. In 4 PPs, the Oilers managed controlled possession for a total of maybe 30 seconds. Tops. If the PK can keep playing like that, it will be a short series.

2) 5 on 5. It is also agreed that the Flames are going to be the better team 5 on 5, the question is by how much? Yes, the Oilers scored 6 even strength goals. But that was due to a tough night from Markstrom. Overall, the Flames dominated the 5 on 5 play. Shots were 48-28 and there was probably some game effect in that, as the Flames led for about 58 of the 60 minutes. The level of dominance was pretty encouraging.

3) Game 1. I was worried about last night's game because with game 1, three are nerves, there is usually some bizarreness (and we definitely saw that), and there are often a ton of penalties called. So I thought game 1 might be there for the taking for the Oilers. Nope.

4) Nurse. Zero points, 1 shot, -3. LOL

5) Flames D, without Tanev. They definitely struggled at times. Zadorov lost McDavid a couple times. Andersson and Hanifin had a couple shifts they would like back. But overall, the Flames' D was a hell of a lot better than the Oiler D.

6) How big of a factor would Kassian be? Did he play? Never noticed, until the end of the game when he embarrassed himself.

7) Johnny and the top line. Dominant in the first. Tkachuk had his best game of the playoffs.

Overall: ignoring the goaltending on both sides, the Flames executed their plan a lot better than the Oilers did. And deserved to win.

I expect game 2 to be a completely different kind of game, with both teams trying to be better defensively.

With Edmonton's awful D and goaltending, I like our chances of heading back to Dumpsterville up 2-0. We know Markstrom will be better in game 2.

McDavid with only 25:33 of TOI last night. Of course, it is a few minutes more than the next closest player on either team, but I thought he'd be pushing 28-29 minutes for sure.

It is amazing how much they rely on him. If this series goes 0-2, he'll be pushing 30+ minutes in game 3 guaranteed.
