Well now you’ve lost me. The fact that the score was 5-0 previously is no longer relevant when it’s 5-3. I guess we’ll just disagree on where the blames lies for game 1.

I’m sure both teams will lol for some length from their starters tonight.

Up 5-3 you need to do what you can to secure the lead and try to win the game. Down 3-0 you have the odds stacked against you either way, and there isn't as much urgency to make a pitching change to avoid potential trouble from your pitcher. That's the difference I'm trying to get at.

I guess at the end of the day you and I have slightly different philosophies when it comes to baseball. It is what it is.

Annnnyway, moving on from that...

Is 5-0 the worst lead in baseball? Looks like we're about to find out...

Just another quality start from Valdez who set the MLB record this year.

The huge surprise in the first two games is the Phillies pen, 9 and 2/3 innings of shutout ball. Their starters tried to lose both games, the bullpen bailed them out in game 1 and tried again tonight.

Astros not unhappy knowing just one win in Philly brings the series back to Houston. Altuve and Alvarez seem to be coming around. But that DH position is a black hole (although Diaz was in the field tonight). You’d start Vazquez but that essentially leaves you without a backup catcher. Rare situation where the AL team wishes the next three games were played with the old NL rules.

I wonder if Dusty plays Dubon in CF and moves McCormick over. Or tries Hensley at DH. Mancini and Diaz are automatic outs in the playoffs so far.

For me it’s not a baseball philosophy question. I’m just prepared to give Verlander the chance to recover from a 3 run inning early in game one. Something he has done dozens of times in his HOF career. Obviously he has been worse in the World Series but none of us know why that is and how much it has to do with small sample sizes over a multitude of years. Did you see how he pitched in game 1 of the ALCS? Got better as the game went along.

Would I treat it differently if it’s Hunter Brown? Of course.

No game tonight. And they will keep the off day between games 5 and 6. Phillies can skip their bullpen game now and line up three best starters to try to keep the series from going back to Houston.

This is a weird series. Every game one team has gotten to at least five before the other scores.

Men vs boys out there. The series won't be going back to Houston.

Well Astros going to have to win 3 of 4 now.

Curious if they come back with Verlander on four days rest. I hope they go with Javier but we'll see.

Look at the 2019 World Series. Nationals lost two games in a row 7-1 and 8-1, both at home.

It's baseball, can't overreact to one game.

I'm not overreacting to one game. I'm properly reacting to the entire Phillies postseason run. They're in god mode basically.

That's why baseball playoffs are so fun. It's short enough that the Cinderella teams often win before their luck runs out. In the NHL or NBA it's a war of attrition where the talent eventually takes over. Baseball is all about riding that wave. Just get in and see what happens.

For sure but hot streaks end. Astros were red hot sweeping both their playoff series. One team winning 2 of first 3 games doesn't mean this series is over IMO. Astros were better team through two games.

The Cardinals were hot coming into the postseason, then suddenly they weren't.

The Braves were hot coming into the postseason, then suddenly they weren't.

The Padres were hot coming into the NLCS, then suddenly they weren't.

There's just something different about what's going on with this Phillies team.

If you're Dusty do you leave Javier in there to go for the nohitter?

Three Astros pitchers have combined for a no hitter thru 8 innings.

Wonder if Javier would have got it himself, he was absolutely in the zone tonight. But saving the pitches probably makes him available for a Game 7.
