And that’s my whole point. There are all these things we attribute to the time change that are actually just seasonal and due to our latitude.

I like DLS because it reminds us that time is made up.

Thought I’d bump this to remind everyone that the shortest weekend of the year is upon us.

Permanent Daylight time please. (It's been passed in the west coast states, just waiting for either congressional or house approval)

Not an issue, keep things the way they are. Love this weekend and the one in the fall where we fall back.

I do wonder about people who get all bent out of shape about this. What happens if you stay up an hour later than usual during the week?

By the amount of complaining I hear about this it seems like their whole week is ruined.

You should wait until you hear how much people complain about the weather in the place they choose to live. Have you ever tried complaining? It’s great, honestly, and a good way to let out the demons. Try it.

Right, because it can take time to adjust to a new sleep schedule. And the change in daylight can be a struggle, especially if you suddenly have to drive into the sunrise/sunset again.
Be happy it doesn’t affect you.

I'm sure I say the same thing here every 6 months, but if it wasn't for people complaining about it I wouldn't even notice the change

It's amazing how it affects some people, personally I hardly even notice and never have, loose an hour's sleep and right back on track the next day. I find changing all the clocks around the house the most irritating of all.
P.S, I don't get the drive into the sunrise/sunset thing, the sun isn't 6 month locked, that changes every day with or without a time change

I don't know how regimented your sleep schedule has to be to be overly affected by an hour change, and I hope I never find out. I wonder if those are the same people that complain about jetlag for a week after getting home

BC said that they will consider following the west coast states if it goes through, so I hope it does.
The whole changing the clocks thing is stupid. I think most people don't like it, and maybe a lot of people don't really care, but does anyone actually like it? It's been proven to not really have any benefits.

Then it’s downright bizarre that we’d switch to permanent daylight savings because it’s been proven to be extremely harmful.
Changing clocks is a great middle ground. Standard is far superior for our health, but people hate it in the summer, and DST would exacerbate the outcomes people already complain about from changing clocks (accidents, hearts attacks etc).

One thing I always wonder about that statement about DST being bad for our health is, do people in Saskatchewan have significantly worse health than the rest of Canada? They have been living in permanent Daylight Time for decades.
If you look at a time zone map, the entire province of Saskatchewan lies right in the middle of the Mountain time zone. The middle of UTC-7, AKA Mountain Standard Time is 105°W. The western edge is 112.5°W (slightly west of Bassano) and the eastern edge is 97.5° (slightly west of Winnipeg). Saskatchewan's western border is 110°W and its eastern border is approximately 102°W. The natural middle of the Mountain time zone is slightly west of Regina.
By staying on Central Standard Time year-round, Regina is nearly perfectly positioned in the middle of permanent daylight time. Does the fact that they're told they're on permanent standard time cancel out the negative health outcomes of being on permanent daylight time?

You're right that the sun's position in the sky changes every day. If you're driving East around 7am you have about a month where you're doing it during sunrise, and just when you get to the point where the sun is fully up... the time changes and you're driving with the sun in your eyes again.
