The format isn't changing from last years. We know that, that wasn't my point. I like the idea of an episodic show. I grew up on Gunsmoke, and Paladin, and Star Trek and BJ and the Bear. There was never an over arching storyline to those.
The episode was fine, but that's it, it wasn't in my mind as good as the other ones.

I think it is more than fair to not like this weeks episode and still enjoy the rest of the season. Unless they are all carbon copies of this week with the exact same monsters and plot. That would get boring.
And each week this happened in the first season it was character/world/story building. I'm guessing the take away from this episode will be the interaction with Mando and the X-Wings. That will at some point come back to be a thing.

I'm assuming there's a war coming between the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic with the Moff in the middle. As much as I want to see Ashoka (Because I believe there's eventually going to be a spin off series). I'd love to see Grand Admiral Sloane (Bad ass) and maybe Sabine return in live action.

I'm not sure a monster of the week format can run too much longer. Even in the 60s they started to sprinkle plot arches in. Once we know the characters, monster of the week doesn't provide much without a unifying story. With this show the obvious direction is who the hell are Yodas people, and where did this Mando cult disappear to. I don't mind the idea of exploring the weaknesses of the new republic or the rise of first order as b background scenery to the show, characters and events that Mando keeps tripping over, but I do hope they don't pull him into influencing those events, I like them shrinking the scope of the stories in the star wars universe, its what the franchise needs.
Without the story arch common viewers wont last much longer.

Ahsoka and Sabine coming in together makes sense since they are technically looking for Ezra right now.

I had fun with this episode, giant spiders were fun, flamethrower time was fun. But baby Yoda was being a little goblin. Those eggs were those of a sentient species, kind of ghoulish to eat them like that.

Well that and those eggs were literally the last in existence in the galaxy. Maybe we’ll find out that the Yoda species has a bit of a...dark side...to them. Interesting that he didn’t use magic baby hands to save them, which he’s instinctively done in the past to save them from certain death.

Yeah I thought there'd be more of a payoff from the egg-eating. If they are so precious, how did she not notice a bunch were missing? Why was he so obsessed with them?
Was it more that he's hungry and growing? - He did eat that spider egg too.
Maybe we'll find out, I just found it odd that they would focus on it so much without any payoff within the same episode.
That said, I think I enjoyed this one more than the 1st. For some reason the 1st one seemed to not have much for stakes comparatively. I liked the hurdle that they couldn't go to hyperspace, made it interesting. I also liked the detail that his armour now has some green scars from the beast in episode 1. Although I find it odd some eggs can't survive hyperspace conditions for some reason.

I read somewhere that staring out a window during hyperspace can drive you mad, but yea the supposed effect on eggs is weird. waiting for Cap's EU-based hypothesis on it.

I can only recall one book where they touched on that, which was Death Star where Vader liked looking out the window during hyper space jumps, because Hyperspace was complex to look at and to an extent multi dimensional and it represented his state of mind. But I don't recall anyone going nuts or even closing windows during the jump.
There are excellent stories from other writers and franchises.
Stephen King wrote an awesome short story, I think it was called the Jaunt. where future travel was through portal. People were put to sleep before they went through, but one kid didn't take the drugs and went through the jaunt awake and came out ancient and insane screaming that it was an eternity in there even though the jaunt took less then a second.
In Wing Commander people got physically disoriented and sick going through their jump points because even though the jump took less then a second there was a sense of eternity and a fear of what would happen if you never exited the other jump point.
Maybe in Star Wars there's a radiation in hyperspace that effects the eggs.
I don't think there's a payoff of the baby eating the eggs except that he's a big of a jerk driven by hunger. Maybe the mother has an expectation of not all eggs surviving and its why her species pumps out so many as a survival instinct.
No big explanation here.

Not the last of the species, just the last of that woman's line.

Wasn't a fan of this episode overall. I don't mind the serial nature of the show. Felt like this episode just broke down into some CGI mess. In contrast to the previous episode where there was also a lot of CGI, but you also had interesting supporting characters and the story revealed a lot about Mando's nature. This one had some good bits, like the X-wing pilots and the opening bar scene. However, the rest of it was just a bunch of gags.

The egg payoff was as simple as this: Rule of 3.
- ate an egg, got in trouble
- ate an egg, got in trouble
- went to find a different egg, which created the climax. That’s your payoff.

First of all, and I dont mean to kinkshame anyone here, but I think she was a frog?
I dont think they have 'ta-tas' per se. But Frogs and hot water are typically not good bedfellows?

Gross, a frog? K, quote rescinded. This is the kind of analysis I come for.

Yeah, and I don't think the act of fertilizing the eggs would be as hot as you think it would be.

People keep calling her a frog. She looked like far more of a newt to me. Bit of a moot point, but animals with eggs generally don't have ta-tas. We could have still seen some ba-dunk-a-dunk though.

The character's name in the credits is "Frog Lady".
