From the article there's this blurb on Fox

Quote:
Meanwhile, off the ice, he looks remarkably like Leafs head coach Mike Babcock. Seriously, it's eerie. And now that I've mentioned it look for it and in your mind, you'l even start hearing Babcock's voice.
Spoiler!

Oh god, I can't unsee it now

I'm assuming that the goalies are still in last year's equipment, not gear that reflects the changes for the upcoming season, but would appreciate confirmation.

Pretty sure the goalie pads were standard - Gillies pads looked oversized. Thought Riddich looked bad both days, maybe slightly less so on day2.

It surprises me that Haynes hasn't been picked up by the Herald or sportsnet. His write ups are very good with solid information.

Just making a comparison. Evidently not the greatest comparison, oh well.

I had the same injury and surgery in 2014.. If he's on the ice and playing period, hes healed. It's not an injury you play through while rehabbing. Especially at his level.

So if it is his hip, he has likely re-injured himself. How severely, who knows. But it is certainly not an injury you mess with while rehabbing.

So, if he went off the ice due to a hip injury, I would like to know more and I would like some verification that it is in fact his hip. Or the OP is guessing about the info should be stating it's speculation.

Please show a parallel between the two prospects. Also, how exactly did the Flames rush Fata? He played 27 games over three seasons with the hockey club. That is not being rushed.

I'm just saying what I heard up at Winsport. Someone told me that he'd talked to someone down by the dressing rooms (not sure if it was Jon or a coach) who had said that Gillies was feeling some pain in his hip and took the rest of his on-ice session off. I don't think it was all that serious, mainly for precautionary measures, but you never know.
You obviously want to be a journalist. You are doing your best to break some news or steal some thunder from some of the other posters here. Okay, here's the thing you have to learn. Keep your yap shut until you have two sources that can confirm the existence of a story, like an injury. You are speculating off of nothing other than a player leaving the ice early. A journalist is not paid to speculate. A journalist is paid to discover and present the facts. What you are doing is being like so many of the "journalists" that are out there right now and striving to be an attention whore; being the first to break a story rather than verifying the facts and presenting some semblance of truth. Francis is a no talent hack because he rushes to present gossip without proper verification. Duhatschek is a legend in these parts because he recognized when to sit on a hearsay and find a secondary source before going to print. Be more Duhatschek and less Francis.

You know, I don't give a #### if it came off dickish. It needed to be said. I'm tired of seeing conjecture and supposition turned into fact because of lazy journalism. Better to try and nip in the bud before it becomes habitual.

That's fair.

I just think the hate around here for this particular poster has gotten out of hand. He seems young, maybe a tad immature at times, but comes across as genuine and seems to just want to be helpful.

People need to lay off the guy.

And on that note, my detailed and expanded takeaways and impressions from Wednesday's sessions. Huge shoutout to CP user nickerjones for allowing me to use his photos!

Really? I don't see it that way. I don't see it as as hate. I see as being annoyed, like when you're little brother is being a goof around your friends because he's trying to impress or fit in. You have some that have put him on ignore. Does that really help him understand the cultural norms of the board, or just encourage him to continue down the same path his is on? If people didn't care they would put him on ignore and move on. But to be honest I personally see something in him that could lead to good things, especially as a journalist. He just needs guidance. Sometimes the best guidance is a good smack upside the head. So I think this is a really good learning opportunity for him, because he needs to develop a story filter early. Otherwise he could do incredible damage to himself, and the site he is reporting for, if he releases faulty information that gets blown out of proportion and takes a life all unto itself. To me, the ignore list is the easy way out.

By the way, New Era, I 100% agree with your sentiments on Francis and Duhatschek, and their styles of journalism. Personally, I've always looked up to Duhatschek and George Johnson and those guys who seem to come across the profession honestly. I dream of one day being able to come close to being a quarter of what those guys are.

I heard from someone in attendance that Gillies could have possibly been feeling some pain in his hip. I don't have a media pass, I'm not a member of the media, I'm just trying to experience the Development Camp and write. See, I do this for fun, and for a love of the game, not for clicks. I honestly couldn't care less who reads my website or my Twitter feed. But I heard from someone that Gillies could have been feeling some pain in his hip. Should I have presented it more as speculation? Yes, for sure, that was a mistake. But I didn't expect people to read into it like they did.

We're all on the same page here: we're fans. Like I said in the E=NG thread while talking to Cyclops yesterday, I've been a fan of this team since the day I was born, and I've always wanted to share my passion with other people around me. I have never once intended to come off antagonistically or immaturely or National Enquirer-esque, I simply want to convey my thoughts with other people. I don't want to stick out from the crowd in a negative fashion -- I don't get satisfaction from that. I just want to contribute, whether it be through presenting information in GDTs like I did for the Draft and Free Agency, or through talking to guys like Gulutzan or Cameron, like I did today.

I'm not about being the first, or being the star of the show. I want to share my passion for my die-hard favourite team with other people. I hope you understand that.

Hey at least it's constructive and not just grouchy old man jargon like many people around.

TheScorpion, You're one of my favorite posters for sure. Sometimes I shake my head haha, that's a good thing though. If we all stuck and fought for status quo it would get dull fast.

Look at our budding journalist go! New Era will be so proud of you when you're breaking news for Al Jazeera

Seriously though, nice work.
