Imagine that, had no doubt in my mind, it was much like the debacle with the reporter jumping the gun on Johnny playing in the 5v5 game last year. Of course I don't think we'll hear too many people saying "Good on the League letting him play" although I think they were going to let him play since they had said all along they would honour the fan vote right from the beginning. Good on the League signed Me.

Good, very pleased with that decision. The NHL should have to live with their mistakes just like the rest of us. He'll be on his best behaviour I have no doubt. Roll on the all star game!

I think it's the right decision, and time for them to amend the voting process.

Nice! Gotta say, I'm now looking forward to the All Star game a lot more with news of Scott's inclusion. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I think it'll just add to the light hearted atmosphere. Some of you guys take the All Star game too seriously.

Ugh. I wish they had just given him the bonus and let a good player play.

But but but, even the TSN legal time was upset. If the TSN legal team is involved, you know you have problems!

a) yes, bots and trolls could have been prevented even a simplistic unique IP based filter would be enough to get rid of the casual troll
b) yes and no, there are bots (i.e. google) that spider your site and you want that to happen, but depending on the purpose of your site you probably wouldn't count that as traffic
c) yes, there are ways to determine bot traffic and advertisers don't pay for those clicks
d) pretty much only happens in affiliate programs now, but those are super easy to spot

This might be the most overblown thread in CP history.

How often do we casually watch an event like the Olympics for one reason and then get starstruck by someone we've never heard of.
Gotta get eyeballs on screens no matter what the reason.

I think you are too close to it. Again - the only people really talking about it are fans already. I just don't see potential fans tuning in because of John Scott.
No one cares about this except NHL fans and the trolls how started it.
Anyways it is moot now anyways - he's going. Which I think still makes the NHL look bad because they are just being too reactive to this whole thing.
But it matters little on the grand scheme.

Firstly, I'd like to thank God for this momentous occasion. So much hard work bitching on internet forums, whining to my wife, and just generally being sour grapes has finally paid off. John Scott is in the ASG.
I want to thank all of you too for your endless bitching on the internet, your phone calls to the league offices and generally disdain for the NHL that helped justice to be served.
It's a great day for hockey, and therefore the world.
PS: John Scott is from Edm I just realized. Maybe it was better if he stayed home? LOL

And the lesson here should be:
Don't vote like a bunch of idiots because even though you think you are funny, you really are not.
