NBC News reported Wednesday that its sources said Canadian authorities tracking would-be terrorists heard them discussing potential ISIS-inspired “knife and gun” attacks against U.S. and Canadian targets inside Canada.
NBC reporter Pete Williams told CBC News Network's Heather Hiscox on Thursday that one of the plots targeted a shopping mall, but that authorities stepped in at the very early stages, before there was even a timeline planned for an attack. NBC sources described the attack planning as being at the "aspirational" stage.
Twitter absolutely sucks - people are tweeting and re-tweeting a picture of the two honour guard soldiers right before the attack and making it out like they are 2 new guards standing by right now......sigh.
I got caught by that one too and had it up on Facebook. It is a very believable claim because it looks like there is police tape behind.

Turnover for new information and threat assessment can happen fairly rapidly within the intelligence life cycle (collection, process, dissemination) if using social-media sources for SIGINT. I wouldn't take that quote to heart anymore, it's too old.

Yeah I'm referring to the article as a whole in regards to the whole ISIS chatter and how it more than definitely impacted the change of the threat level.

Yeah, but I didn't. It was on Reddit, and just because it's Fox News, doesn't always make the information provided untrue.

Ugh, if this is a Canadian kid shooting up parliament because he's buying into the goods ISIS is selling, then their formidablilty goes up a notch for me. Grass Roots global recruiting. Creating homegrown terrorists is something that's going to be tough to combat. Could be any confused and lost person at any time making an attack.
Why people don't want Canada involved in cutting the heads of this hydra is confusing.
My thoughts go out to those familiies directly affected by today's events.
