Kyuss275 is proud to select from Belfast, Owen Nolan.

He played both wings so put him on my LW.

Time for my reaches and steals of the past three rounds (and if anyone is offended by anything - although I can't see why - I don't look at the poster, just the player)

Round 7
Reach: Sandis Ozolinsh - unidimensional offensive defenseman with an awful reputation off the ice and I think it is telling how often the guy was traded. There are still better defensemen left on the board.

Steal: Howie Morenz/Charlie Conacher - Two of the best from the early era of hockey.

Round 8
Reach: Tim Hunter/Pierre Turgeon/Doug Weight - No idea why Hunter was even picked. As for Turgeon he was a skilled player with mediocre heart and a history of faltering when the going got tough.

Steal: Serge Savard - A really good pick with a steady defensive presence.

Round 9
Reach: Rick Nash - I know he has skill but massive question marks remain regarding the playoff record or lack there of.

Steal: Henri Richard/Billy Smith.

I would add Moog as a bit of a reach...solid goalie, but lots of comparables out there that I would take before him. He went quite late last draft. That said, I don't know a ton about him beyond my old hockey cards

I really wanted to take Richard again, but his size was the determinant in not taking him again (Morenz is a smaller center too). Although if he had lasted one more round I would have seriously considered him for my third line spot.

Oh and Billy Smith was an absolute steal. I thought he would go in the 5th or 6th round. If I had known he was going to fall this far I would have passed on Hall at that point in the draft. Not a shot at anyone in particular, but Ed Belfour was the fifth goalie taken, I would have easily taken Billy Smith over him.

Belfour gets no love. The inflated stats argument that people apply to him should be applied to every other goalie taken before him. They all played on great teams, why belfour gets shunted for it and others don't is beyond me. Haters gonna hate I suppose.

Ed Belfour isn't a top goaltender from an all time perspective in terms of goaltenders from the 90s/2000s I would say that there is Roy, Brodeur and Hasek as the unquestioned top three, he is in the second tier, people forget that the mid 90s were not kind to Belfour.

As for Richard, he is a great pick but an awful choice for a third line center

I debated over Hextall or Smith...Smith is probably the better goalie (though Hextall's peak in 87 might have been higher), but I wanted the bigger psychopath (on the ice) with more PIMs.

I was running an event yesterday, sorry for the delay.

I need another net presence, so I'll take LW Tomas Holmstrom, please.

So thats what it feels like to have you pick taken just before you pick. Good pick.
