The other talkers on the show mentioned that when they have looked into his eyes before the game starts, that he has not had the same look as he has in the past. They all seem to think his head is elsewhere. Granted it could be the family but they made it sound like its been like that before the birth of his child.
Persnoally i think he can't stand the way the team plays in front of him and has had enough.

I think he's seeing what's going on and the direction the club is taking by trading older players on higher salaries and putting faith in much younger players.
To be honest when you've been the starting goaltender for one organization for the better part of 10 years, and you see what's happening, your mind would start wondering as well.

Correct. You cannot reacquire the player in any way (trade, waiver claim, or signing) for a minimum of one year after a buyout.

Kipper has been all we had for the last few years. Without him we'd probably have been drafting near the top all along. I hate to see him go or retire. He will always be one of my favourite Flames players. If we owe anyone gratitude, it's him.

The best part about this, should that tweet be correct, is that Kypreos has been completely wrong.
Also, I'd expect any deal to have a conditional pick coming back should kipper re-sign.

Dreger said the extension would be more or less an agreement. Similar to what the Flames did with Berra.

Why can't it be both?

The way I see it is that kipper and the leafs will sign a 2 year extension worth 7.5 million. With the 1.5 million due to kipper next year he would get paid 3 mil per season over the next 3 years. 1.5 next year plus 1.5 signing bonus plus 3 mil for the next two years.

Kiprusoff immediately gets better from not having the Western Conference travel load and relieving the expectation of having to backstop 70 games/season.

It would have been better to have three high draft picks than three 9th place finishes. He was saving us from getting better, oddly enough.

I agree, but what I'm saying, is that I wouldn't do for anything less that a 2nd rounder.
He's worth more to the team here.
If anything that's the only guy of the old core I would keep

Considering that's what was given up to get him, and his value was maximized since, that should be a decent enough return. Goalies tend not to fetch that much in the trade market. If it's down to one (maybe two) teams, and he has the leverage of retiring, there'd better not be anybody crying about the pick.

Is there still nothing coming out about this other team? It sucks that the team involved is the Leafs because it immediately grabs all of the focus off the situation.

So you're saying that without him, we'd have a better team right now?
I don't think you meant for it to sound this way but think about it, without him we would have the same playoff experience the past 3 years but we'd have better draft picks to show for it.
People need to stop living in the past, sure he did a lot for the Flames but that was then, this is now. This team needs to move on and he should go somewhere with more of a chance than we have.

I want this trade to happen already. I hope we get something because at this time, I really don't want Kipper on this team anymore.

He was terrible during Brent's second season. Absolutely horrendous. Kipper tends to have one good season and then follows it up with one bad season. He is currently on his bad season. Personally, I don't want Kipper continuing the trend next year and backstopping this team to a 9th place finish.
