Something that kind of amazes me given how simple it is: why is it impossible to change the S3 (and likely S4's) theme to a white background with dark text like iPhones or Optimus G. How long would this take to code in? 5 mins? Jeez.

It took me less than 5 minutes to figure it out on my S3. Settings, accessibility, negative colours. Done.

Holy cow has my battery life gone to crap lately. Fully charged this morning, I've barely used the phone all day, maybe checked twitter a couple brief times, and sent 7-8 texts. It's at 49%. Just dies even in my pocket.
I have Easy Battery Saver set to Intelligent (1.7 times battery life), have the screen set to the lowest setting, disabled Google Now, and I'm borderline OCD for closing open apps and clearing memory in RAM manager. Yet it still drains, I don't get it. I think I'm gonna have to buy a second battery to start carrying around.
Too bad, as aside from that I love this phone. I really hope battery technology catches up to phone technology one of these years, seems light years behind right now.

Try turning LTE off. My S3 was draining like crazy as well. I just use 4G now, which is plenty fast, and my battery lasts from the time I get up until I go to bed.

Backup my current ROM and even backup my apps using Helium (just in case - and if I like the ROM because it's easy to reload all your apps on a new ROM). ROM Manager makes backing up and loading a ROM a snap.

I have days like that from time to time and then other days the battery seems to last forever. Bizarre indeed.

Yeah loaded it up and running great. I had to disable root to get my work email to sync so I am missing some settings but other wise working great.
Took maybe 10 minutes to do. Haven't used ROM manager in awhile. All TWRP and Goomanager now.

Got TWRP installed now. Yeah, It does make flashing and wiping everything you need easier for sure. A combo of ROM Manager and that seems to work nicely for me.
Installed Slim. I do like it. My only concern is the overall size. I'm not as young as I used to be and the old eyes aren't what they once were. Kind of small overall, but I guess that's the point. I do like the ROM overall and the looks. Very nice and smooth. I already had purchased Nova as well, so having that launcher installed by default works for me.

You can change the dpi size which will change the icon/screen size etc. under settings/interface/general/LCD density. Follow the steps and set it back to stock or even make it bigger. I usually settle on 300 (320 is stock) but that was on another phone.

Well. I've gone through that process twice now and google play will not load anymore. All I get is a retry prompt in the market. Kind of wish I hadn't done this. Now what?
Nm. Finally got it to come up.

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask, but here's what could be a dumb question. A friend of mine is going to sell me his S3, ridiculously cheap. He's on Telus and I'm Rogers. Do I just pop a sim card in and I'm off to the races or what do I have to do?

It will need to be SIM unlocked. If it is still on a stock ROM it can be done right from the phone. A search on XDA of SIM unlock or factory unlock galaxy S3 should get you there. On my phone and can't really look to well. If you find one for the NoteII it is the same process.
Also could be possible to get the code from Telus since the phone is off their service now. May pay for it but I'm not 100% sure.

Hey Gala...you still getting LTE? I can't seem to anymore with this ROM. I went into APN settings and chose Rogers LTE but it seems the best I can get is H+ which I had never seen before this ROM.

Try finding the Rogers APN settings online and creating a new APN profile with those settings. I had to do that with TELUS when I flashed to the Stock 4.2.2 ROM before it had been officially released.

Found a post on XDA:
APN - ltemobile.apn
Proxy - <not set>
Port - <not set>
Username- <Not set>
Passwors - <not set>
Server < not set>
MMSC - http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS - proxy 10.128.1.69
MMS - Port 80
MMS protocol - Wap 2.0
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work
This is essentially what the LTE settings are by in the APN portion of the Slim ROM.
The only thing different is the APN type which mine is set to:
default,supl,mms

I see 4G though in network. Isn't that the same as LTE? I've just never seen it before, it's always been LTE on the default ROM.
Just did a speed test:
Download: 30176kbps
Upload: 5634kbps
LTE speeds?
Edit: So Rube, the settings I have above your post for LTE should work then correct? Same APN.

I would think those are LTE speeds. I get close to those numbers but half that when I turn LTE off.
AOSP rom don't have an LTE icon they just show 4g.
