That's when a woman, presumably Nabb, got on. Quintero said she was naked. "I was talking to her and she was talking to me normally. She didn't seem afraid or anything like that," he said.
The door opened and Nabb moved to step out. Quintero said he put his hand on the door, blocking her exit "and keep talking to her because, I don't know, I thought we were talking normally."
Nabb became agitated.
"She got afraid when I didn't let her out and she started yelling 'He won't let me out.'"
Quintero said he panicked.
"I got afraid also because she's an American, or a North American and I'm a Mexican and I wasn't supposed to be in the hotel," he said.
"And she was naked, so I covered her mouth and I said 'Please don't yell. I'm going to go home.'"
Nabb continued to yell, she said.
|
I'm confused. Who said what?
Quote:
"She got more afraid when I covered her mouth."
Quintero said hit Nabb several times in the face with her fist. He then left through the beach entrance.
|
He used her fist to hit herself and break every bone in her face? Great journalism.

Maybe Accoster took a liking to her when she was at the bar earlier, slipped in some date rape drug or something in her drink. The couple shortly went up to their room where the husband passed out and the wife (who usually sleeps naked) started stumbling around when the drugs went into effect and ran into Accoster in the hallway (where he was waiting)while in a daze. He then beats her up after she yells for help.
A friend of mine had something slipped to her and she said she felt like she had no control of her body...

I had no context from anything on this page that charges had been laid or anything. Thanks.

Yes, if I was found naked in an elevator I doubt there would be much of anything I would want to remember either.

Is it just me or does the picture in the herald of the perp look a little over the top. Two police it tact gear with covered face and automatic weapons.....(i am on my ipad and can't figure out how to paste the picture)it is not like this guy was a drug kingpin.....
I also find it hard to believe that in a country where it can take 8 hours to get extra towels in your room that the authorities can solve the crime in a week......
There still seem to be several missing parts to this story. Shelia will still have some splaning to do.....

I believe the police in Mexico try to remain anonymous to avoid being identified by the drug lords and winding up dead. (or maybe their families)

As someone who has visted Mexico twice in the past five years I have to say that in my personal experince Mexico is one of the only places I have had a severe incident in. My wife was drugged while at a club in Puerto Vallarta. I have since personally met 4 other girls who have been also drugged in bars in Mexico. Seems a high rate to me. /shrug
I have travelled to over 30 countries in the last 7 years and have had very few problems elsewhere (including the middle east, India, and South East Asia). We are seasoned backpackers who try to take pretty good care of ourselves.
The thing that really irrated us was that when we went to the hospital we were treated as though the drugging was self inflicted or my wife was just drunk. For the record she is a light drinker who had only two drinks that night and then was passing out in our booth at 11:30. I immediately took her to hospital when I realized she was obviously drugged. The $3500 hospital bill for an overnight stay was a really kicker. She also had a tough time collecting from insurance due to the fact the doctor was to lazy to do a drug screen and wrote down she had alcohol poisoning.
The whole situation really left us with a poor opionion of Mexico and I highly doubt we will ever be back. I personally believe things are going to get a whole lot worse there before they get better. However I hope I am wrong because we did meet a lot of great locals while we were there.

^ I've been to Mexico many times (most un-notibly in November), but anyway, a couple years ago we were there for x-mas and new years, with my sister and my parents, and my sister gets drugged in Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen. Another girl from our resort we hung out with also was drugged. Luckily the next morning they were fine, but man, it really put a bad taste in my mouth to always watch out. Especially if you're female.

Coco Bongos is awesome! What a show! I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of music. Would go back for sure! Also Mexico is a great destination. As a traveller when you leave your country you always need to be careful, no matter where you go there are criminals.

While I do to understand the organizational structure of the Mexican police, I do know that I have seen uniformed Mexican police officers in marked cars in cancan similar to how you would expect to see police here In Calgary.
When we were in cancan I wanted to go to coco bongo, but the wife was iffy and the $50 price tag to get tickets seemed expensive to me.
Seems like we were lucky both times we were there as nothing happened to us but a little sunburn.

The 50 bucks I paid (it was something close to that) was well worth it, imo.
When I attended, we bought the tickets at the hotel, got brought down to Coco Bongo's by the hotel, got in fairly quick, table service/open bar and got to see an awesome show.

The man charged with attempted murder in the brutal beating of a Canadian tourist in Mexico on Jan. 20 told a Mexican newspaper he was forced to sign a confession and he has no idea what it says.

Anyone else not surprised?

Naked women, elevators, margaritas that's par for the course in Mexico.
It will be interesting when Nabb comes too and describes her attacker as 6'5 shaved head 255lbs.
This 85lb Quintero is a pawn.

He's already recanting his confession and impling that the cops told him to confess to a simple theft in order to make the resort seem safe and well policed.
There is way more to this.

The poor sap the Mexicans arrested and put on display is totally getting scape-goated here. Poor #######.
When the Canadian journalists asked him why there were no bruises on his hands or if there was anything more he wanted to say, he looked nervous and said he couldn't talk about it.

This is brutal.
And by continuing to support the Mexican tourism industry, you essentially condone the actions of the Mexican government, police and judicial system.
My money is better spent elsewhere.
