Mortars are getting nerfed to hell with the next patch. They are absolute nonsense right now.
My problem with conquest on Metro is that the game never moves. It's stuck between the lobby and the subway, on the stairs. The Russians have a huge advantage.

They finally fixed it so you can manually join squads.
Played some great games last night with buddies in a true squad and really enjoyed it.
Having a 4 player squad all on Teamspeak is so much better than just hoping your random squad mates follow you. Too many players in the game want to run around and do their own thing, everyone needs to realize how powerful squads really are and make the game 10x better.

I find that the Russians have the advantage, and it seems that everyone switches to engineer for the map, just so they can spam rockets wherever.
Maybe it's better with a smaller amount of people, I only played it with 64 players - it felt like too many for such a small map.
I also don't like it because it's small and confined - Battlefield is the best when those small and confined spaces occur in large Battlegrounds. I don't like being underground for an entire Battlefield map.

On PC - has anyone found a way to setup your kit loadouts while not in the middle of a game??

If you hook process monitor onto Origin you will not see Origin scanning anything, independently of how long you use it. So what triggered the OP's screenshot?
Origin on installation will try to find games installed on your harddrive and automatically register them within Origin. It does that in a couple of different ways:
1 It reads the windows games registry 2 It looks for games in Program Files 3 It looks for games in ProgramData (where, for unknown reason the OP's SMS and tax software are storing the data instead of the user profile where that data should go!) 4 it reads the xfire config if it finds one for games
If you look at the screenshot closely you will see that it does not actually read any files. Instead it looks for their existence and recursively walks the directory. It does not read any of your files, at least not judging from this screenshot or anything I have found on my machine.
Lastly if you monitor the network traffic that Origin causes you will see that it does not transmit anything of value to EA. So far I have not seen anything bug login credentials being submitted.
But it's always so much more fun to assume that software is inherently evil. You can hook a syscall monitor on any application and you will see that it operates all over the drive. That's not something unique to Origin. Steam will do the same if you click the "add non steam game" button.
//EDIT: something I forgot: I think people should not run any sysinternals tools without a basic understanding of what they do or at least not jump to conclusions.

Nothing more awesome then sneaking onto a perfect sniping spot on a roof, and lining up a shot only to fall victim to a guy in a helicopter gun ship who hammers you with about 10 rockets, then eats a surface to air missile, while the missile launcher does a fist pump and gets blasted by a tank round.
OR whats even worse is you are pinned down with the enemy advancing and they call in air support so now your getting strafed and bombed, but you have hope as one of your buddies has jumped into a plane and is on the way to rescue your party. Of course you look up to see the enemy plane lining up for another killing round and then you see your buddies plane wobbling in, lining up the enemy fighter or helicopter then losing control and slamming into a building or the ground.
But just as all hope is lost, your down to your last couple of team mates, you need fire support, you scream for help and a tank or APC comes bumbling into the scene to offer you much needed help until the tool running the machine gun doesn't check his targets and performs mass murder on the survivors of your original team.

On metro, if your squad all goes recon as attackers and places the respawn thing behind enemy lines then you switch to whatever class, things can get really interesting spawning behind the other team. I've never done it, but it's happened to me and it's hell trying to stop a few high level guys from destroying your teams.

Nothing beats being on top of a nice sniping spot, picking off attackers trying to arm a bomb, listening as the music begins to start signalling a near win when suddenly, screaming over head you hear the distinct sound of a fast mover, afterburners engaged.
You barely have a moment to consider this however, as he reigns down hellfire and brimstone in a coordinated attack with a previously unidentified T90 on your hapless building.
The last, terrifying moments of your life are spent looking at the rooftop beneath you crumble as the building collapses in on itself, muffling the agonizing cries of your squad mates on the floor below.

I put a mobile spawn point in one of the containers inside the tunnel on Damavand Peak, and we kept spawning in the midst of enemy lines. You'd think they'd have wondered why guys were pouring out of a container like a clown car. Anyway, at one point I got behind 4 guys in one of the side tunnels and managed to knife 3 of them while they were shooting away from me towards the rest of my team. That's the stuff that keeps me playing.

Yeah I remember the first time it happened and I was thinking wtf.... then realized they must have a msp behind us but the rest of my team was too stupid. I was battling the best 4 players on the other side the whole round, best was when they all got to the m-com and I shot two in the face stabbed one and shot the other in the back as he was arming. Ran straight to where they were spawning, hucked a grenade, got two of em, shot the other two and destroyed the msp and we won the round. Probably my favorite round so far.

Quite a few of the maps are not very good rush maps. Canals is prime example of a map in need of balance changes. It's heavily stacked against the attackers. My buddy jumped into the AA tank, parked it against the canals and shot up everything that tried to get out of the attacker's spawn. I think maybe 5 guys made it to the shore. Fun game though. I haven't even tried to play on a 64 man server yet.

I was just going to post the same thing, I got one for my M249, that and the suppressor sure made a lot of difference.
Now I know what the answer was when I'd ask "how could they see me?!"

I remember the red dot helping a lot in BC2, but I need help. I can't kill crap right now with the regular guns.
Hopefully I can unlock the IR's soon, how long does it take?

I've found it very difficult to find the range of many of the guns.
I feel like a greenhorn placing a whole clip of sniper rounds above and below my target, only to get taken out when I start to reload.

IRs are usually pretty far down the unlock progression, but you can see them if you go into battlelog and just find the weapon. IR for the M249 was 100 kills with the M249 and the M416, others might be different.
But really it's more about being in a situation where you see someone first, unless there's a real disparity of guns or a situation where one gun is better than another (i.e. you're at medium long range and you have a gun that's better for short ranges) most of the time the guy who gets the drop is going to win.
If a guy is shooting at you already don't expect to be able to kill them.

I can finally fly... the key for me was pushing the joystick down and changing the views. I cant kill anything in the air vehicles but I can keep them in the air for more than 5 secs.
My huge complaint is those stupid flashlights and lasers. Everyone and their dog has them... truth is when I am running around in the broad daylight .. a flashlight or laser isnt going to blind me . They are stupid. really really stupid!

A powerful enough flashlight will!
What'd you think was in all those pockets, ammo? Pfft, it's batteries!
