You do realize that Oregon still put up 27 points on LSU and probably would have scored a few more had DeAnthony Thomas known how to properly secure a ball at the time.

Am I missing something? Has no one mentioned what is happening at Penn State?
I think we're all trying to pretend that it didn't happen, which unfortunately seems to be the same approach taken by a number of people who knew about it. Paterno's legacy is pretty much destroyed IMO.
Well you did a good job ducking that counter argument there
Saying that LSU and Auburn "stopped" Oregon is preposterous.
Who scored more and who won? Argument is done, LSU and AU beat them with that unstoppable offense.

All I'm trying to say its not as if LSU just "shut down" the ducks offense. It had more to do with Oregon turning the ball over so many times. And don't give me the old "defense forced the turnover" argument. DaT was playing in his first game as a true frosh, and since then hasn't fumbled at all. I can guarrantee he wouldn't put the ball on the turf again in a rematch. What's funny too is even with the tide's amazing defense, the ducks still held LSU to less yards per play. Difference in that game was the two fumbles by DaT.
I've been listening to the Penn State stuff on Jim Rome. Just an awful, awful story.

I haven't followed this that much but didn't Paterno do the right thing and report it to the AD? And it's the AD that did nothing. Hence why the AD is being charged with perjury and not Paterno.

Penn State should have their athletic dept gutted and be given the death penalty. Paterno is not innocent ethically no matter how you spin it. Sandusky had use of the football facilities as late as last week. This is what happens when money is allowed to rule amateur athletics. Fewer and fewer are willing to stand up and damage reputation for what is right.

Yeah, he reported it and then did nothing. By the books he did the right thing, morally I'm not so sure. This is a guy who made his name as someone who always did the right thing. I'm not so sure that mentioning what he knew and then letting this guy hang around campus, and around kids, for another 9 years without doing anything else amounts to doing the right thing. I'm not going to peg the guy as a monster or anything over that, but it's tough to look at him the same.
If what's said in this video about a grad student catching Sandusky having anal sex with a pre-teen and nothing was done, then Joe Paterno and anyone else who knew about it should be fired and disgraced.

If you read the grand jury report about what the heard and then saw in that shower ... man, I can't see how anyone would be content to just let that get swept under the rug. On the other hand, I can understand wanting to just never talk about it again to anyone, but then wouldn't your conscious just eat at you?

Yeah, I can imagine there's a part of you that just pretends that it didn't happen, accepting the reality that someone you trusted could do that would be incredibly hard. That doesn't excuse the failure to do more, but man, I can't even imagine what it would be like hearing that news.

Just because you hope so? Or do you actually have any evidence? I can say the NCAA has dug around and found nothing. What do you have?
Cheating doesn't benefit UT. As in the above article, they report people who are asking for money, because in a level playing field UT gets all the recruits. Worst thing they will find is a booster bought some players some drinks or something small like that. As people say "Mack Brown doesn't recruit, he selects."
Stoops is another guy who runs a clean program.
