Canada in a good spot in the repechage tournament. Beat Germany with a bonus point, which means Hong Kong would have to beat them by 57 points (with a bonus point) in order to knock Canada out.
Which seems unlikely.
Looks my extra $20 made the difference.
Nice to see a Calgary connection on the filed, 2 Calgary Hornets players in the game day squad.
Blevins off the bench and McRoie at 10 (who played great). Testament to his ability to move from 9 to 10 and impact the game.

Did anyone catch day 1 of the Canada Sevens? Those three huge upsets in a row, France over Australia, Spain over New Zealand, and finally Canada over Fiji, was some of the best sevens rugby I have ever seen. It sounded like a great atmosphere at BC place. Well done Canadian rugby fans!

My first time watching Rugby 7s. I am hooked! It is so much fun to watch! I had fun with my Fijian friend. I asked him who he was going for in Canada vs. Fiji. He said, "Fiji on my right hand, Canada on my left."

Glad you liked it! Sevens is one of the best spectator experiences around. Getting to see the rarity of a Canada win over Fiji at your first event is pretty cool.

Meanwhile Canada has won a game in what feels like forever. They went 0-3 in the PNC and have a few more matches before what could be a dreadful World Cup this fall.
Hopefully Canada can at least beat Namibia at the cup. I’m not getting my hopes up.
South Africa wins the Rugby Championship. The All Blacks finished 3rd with a -17 points differential. If Wales beats England today they will take over 1st in the world rankings.

I think that AB's loss is the exception to the rule.
I am a Wallabies supporter (some of my favourite players ever played for them, Smith, Horan, Bernie), but I think they just caught lightening in a bucket.
It would be interesting to see how they do against 15 AB's.

Yes. Intriguing euphemism.

It looks like SBW to the Wolfpack is official now. $10M over 2 years makes him the highest paid rugby player in any code.
Well yeah of course paying millions of dollars to bring Australian and Kiwi players to Canada to play in the English Super League is not sustainable. It is just a mining billionaire's toy.
Also, I wouldn't go as far as calling the product crap, more like okay. The English Super League is the 2nd best RL competition in the world and weird 13 man rugby is still rugby.

I actually don't mind League, a good game if league is enjoyable.
I watched some Wolfpack games. The level was poor, and I think the jump to the top of level is bigger than most people think.

With today's announcement that New Zealand will be moving down to Alert Level 2, New Zealand Rugby has confirmed that our 5 domestic franchises will be playing out a 20 game season entirely within our borders starting in June, to be called Super Rugby Aotearoa.
Personally I'm thrilled by this news, I know I'm not the only person in the country/world itching to watch some live sport. And with how wacky Super Rugby has become in recent years with the crazy travel, weird conference and seeding rules, games on at odd hours of the night, a back to basics competition between NZ's top players should make for some good quality games. Games will be played at empty stadiums, but hopefully we continue to progress to the point where spectators are allowed a couple of months down the line.

I had gotten to the point that I would rather watch the provincial games (is it still called the Mitre Cup)?
The shine has definitely gone off Super Rugby, which is sad. There was a time is was the standard.
