Part of why they’re so bad has to be lack of confidence, but I wonder if the common denominator is catching? Janssen is terrible, and if he’s not calling for the right pitch, the pitcher isn’t going to be confident in throwing it. Could be coaching too. I don’t think it’s lack of talent alone.

Well they say misery loves company. So I am enjoying the Mets hilarious collapse(although they're winning today) and the Padres falling off a cliff. As frustrating as this season has been for Jays fans I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be a Padres fan and watch as their owner has spent near a billion dollars on a roster and they still cant get it done.

You're all right. This team is flushed. They've lost their mojo.

Funny enough Chatwood pitched in relief for the Giants today, his first since being released by the Jays, and gave up 3 runs in 1.2IP. Dude totally sucks so it wasn't just some bad Jays mojo for him.

That game was mostly on the bullpen, but wow has Vladdy ever been a different player since siting out the home run derby. You would think if there was a bit of an injury he would be doing more DH"ing.

Vladdy with 3 extra base hits in August
Bichette with 2
Hernandez has been carrying the team on his back for a while now

Wow. I didn't realize the power numbers were that poor for those two this month,
Vladdy seems to have fallen back into old routines of pounding the ball into the ground. He's had some good AB's lately but most of his hits are soft grounders against the shift. I think he got too caught up in the HR totals and trying to hit bombs rather than the line drives. Line drives for him turn into HR's because he hits the ball so hard.
Terrible time for those guys to go quiet.

They don't call them the "dog days" of August for nothing. Give them a break, they've been amazing all year.
Watch them come home and go on a tear again. Some weaker teams with one good team mixed in for the next two weeks.
Tigers x3
White Sox x4
Tigers x3 (away)
Orioles x3
That's not too bad of a schedule leading into September, where the games will get very important with some big series against the A's and Yankees to start the month. I'm guessing they'll make up some ground in the remainder of August. Obviously those two series against Oakland and NYY are huge to start the month, so if they don't win those series we'll know where they stand by about the first week of September.
As for now, have hope! Plenty of time left in the season.

Not with that bullpen as currently constructed.
With Springer out likely a month, the offense simply wont be as effective, meaning more pressure on the bats.
They are still good enough to put up 4 or 5 a game with relative ease, but the entirety of the pitching staff is just way to leaky at this point to rely on that kind of production IMO.
So unless the guys who dont start, and even a couple who do, have some sort of epiphony and figure out how to do their jobs, its going to very hard to make up ground on 2 different teams which is what they are facing.

I’ll be in Toronto end of this month. What is the best website to buy tickets for the games?

Excellent news regarding Springer and Pearson. Springer is this teams most important player IMO. The record with and without him speaks for itself.

How much does a guy like Ray command in the off-season? $22-25 mil per season?

Ryu got 4 x $20 million, not sure if Ray commands that much to be honest.

A lefty power pitcher with a sub 3 ERA who strikes out a ton? Teams will pretty much give him a blank check and ask him to put down his number.
I think the rapport he has with Pete Walker, who has been instrumental in in helping Ray locate, will maybe move the needle a bit. But I think something like 5 years 125 might get it done.
