After playing a lot of open world games and then being jarred by the (great) GotG game which is very much on a rail GoW felt fine. Access to areas for the main story was locked but the world hub allowed freedom to do things in different order.

The level of freedom didn't matter so much to me, not every game has to be completely open world and as you say there was a lot of stuff to do whether you wanted to advance the main quest or hunt for treasure or optional bosses and the like, and the combat was actually fun enough that even fetch quests took a long time to get repetitive. The problem was that outside of your main two characters and the enemies you fight there are... maybe 8 NPCs in the entire game? Possibly not even that many.

Hm I never really thought about it but yeah I guess that is true. Almost everything is there for you to chop down. The World Serpent being an NPC almost makes up for it.

Have finally gotten around to playing both Psyconaughts 2 and Halo Infinite. Both great games. Very impressed with Psyconaughts.

Would you consider 1081.6 hours, weekly (now, was more) Twitch stream, and a YouTube channel dedicated to it addicted?
I also just submitted my Vacation request for the 7-9 of February...

Huge surprise on the channel name, lol, here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/Krovikan
I've been slowly shifting on the content, so the older videos might be a bit odd compared to the new ones; the ones in the last month or so are the format I'm going forward with. Short ~10minute video with the strategy information.

I don't own this game and have no idea how to play. It's probably above my pay grade to understand but god damn do I love reading people's experiences playing it.
What's the craziest/funniest/weirdest stories to come out of you (or anyone else) playing?

I always love people getting killed by a carp while sitting by a pond, that is just funny.
But the all-time wackiest, I was trying to dislodge some titles within my Dynasty, the murders were going well...
Until I ran into this baby, tried to kill him when he was a baby (0 years old), but the rascal discovered my scheme and despite still 95% chance avoided me killing him. I continued to try until he was an adult, always with a 95% chance and always failing.
When he finally was an adult he decided to raise up with a claimant war and stole one of my two (and primary) Kingdom titles, it was the Kingdom of Sicily. So I then spent a lot of time gathering allies and trying to prepare to take back my title. At the time, I was also fighting off the Byzantine Empire because I was doing an achievement run, and my second Kingdom was conquered from their territory. I had also converted to French, because of the achievement and my people and those around me weren't liking me.
I eventually took back the Kingdom and relegated him to a Duchy; however, I was still unable to kill him, so he died not of my hands. For revenge, I was decided to continue killing those in their line until they started liking me at that point they have lost their Duchy title and only had one County left.
Edit: Another fun thing I did, had a Tamil ruler invade England and rename the Kingdom title "West British Trading Company".

I know this wasn't directed at me but my favourite stories so far from my own games but so far:
1) I had the lustful personality trait. My Son and heir was discovered by my spymaster to be having an affair with my daughter, his sister. When you're lustful one of the options is to invite them into your bed chamber for a threesome "family time".
2) My heirs wife wasn't producing children to keep the dynastic chain going as i wanted. So I seduced her and produced a few kids in secret. I then died and became my son, exposed the affair by planting my spymaster in court, and executed her. Kinda felt like it was all my doing.
3) I had a "red wedding" style feast. I was a sadistic personality and murdered dozens of my guests at a feast.

@Krovikan
Saw your video on succession planning, the intro at least before running out. It's crazy how little I thought of succession planning when I first started playing the game. I literally did not think about it at all, didn't even look at the succession tab screen. Now, I'll actually go so far as to send my grandkids to specific cultural tutor to get them set for succession. Example being my current play thru as Pomerania. I'm not even at the year 1000 yet but, my original players great grandson has 2 brothers. So eventually with confederate partition I have in mind to make one Dutch and the other Sardinian. When I die as their current grandfather, and become the Dad, I'll have 15 or maybe even 10 years to conquer Sardinia to make one the King of Sardinia on death, and then try and scoop up 2 duchies of Frisia to make the other a Dutch King. It's quite a tight time line but being tribal and having large levies makes it just a matter of timing and planning.
edit: I'm actually not super interested in giant empires but rather, a huge house sprawling the map.

I was just wondering recently if I could use succession and have my Dynasty rule the entire world, would take a lot of work.

From what I've heard CK3 is streamlined CK2 but with less features; CK3 is my entry point into the series, own CK2 and most of the DLCs via Humble Bundle but it was far too complex without a good tutorials for me to play.

That's definitely what kept me from getting into 3 so far. Love the UI changes but game felt dumbed down slightly and is missing a few features I really liked from some of the CK2 dlc
But haven't played since launch, eager to give it another go

So I just had a bit of a derp moment. I've been stuck on Genichiro in Sekiro for a couple days and have been reading up on all the strategies and watching videos. Nothing seemed to work as I couldn't properly time deflections, especially with his arrows. Then I was reading a random thread in Reddit and someone mentioned something to the effect of "obvious suggestion, but make sure you have Game Mode turned on your TV". Game mode?? Mother####. I ran downstairs and sure enough it was there and turned on. The second after turning it on, I had by far my most successful attempt at Genichiro and almost took him down in his third phase (I struggled to get even one death blow before).
So, ya, uh . . . all those settings on your TV actually do stuff.
