Well, Denis found some nice returns and a good service game and advances to face PCB. He won't get as many gifts from Pablo, though. Still, a nice comeback win today.

Stan is giving young Holger all he can handle. Rune is serving to stay in the match at 5-6 in set 3.

Rune survives and saved three match points to advance. Pretty frosty handshake at the net, Stan delivered some kind of message and did not look pleased.

You don't often see a bagel in doubles, but we might see one in this second set.

It's too bad because Dabrowski and Olmos have had a great season, but they lost a close first set and then they totally checked out in set 2.

This is a trap match if I've ever seen one. Felix is absolutely crushing it, but with 15 straight wins and 3 straight titles, it would be easy and understandable to finally suffer a bit of a let down in this one against a pretty blah opponent.
It looks like he's figuring things out and if he gets this set, I'd bet on him to win the match.
It is really exciting to see him fully embracing his strengths and a game plan that allows him to consistently compete with the best players on tour right now. Once a player does this, the sky is the limit. The only thing left is to carry this through a Masters event and eventually a major.

Ymer losing his mind out there certainly helped.

And now a break to start set 3 for Felix - I think Ymer woke Felix up with all his theatrics and he might regret it.

Oh man, Medvedev just double-faulted on match point to lose to de Minaur, smashes his racket and said something to the chair umpire (I don't think it was complimentary).

It was 0-40. Medvedev had to stop the point to challenge, and got it right, so he went off on the umpire for being blind. "Do I have to do your job too?"
Then he got a lucky net cord on 15-40. Then double faulted on 30-40.

Felix gets broken and then breaks right back to love - This match has had pretty much everything lol.
Edit: Felix consolidates to restore his two game lead.

Prior to beating Medvedev, de Minaur was 0-18 when facing a top 5 player.

50 unforced errors from Felix in this match and we're still not done.
Edit: FAA serving at 5-6 to stay in the match and force a tie-break.
Edit 2: Tie-break it is.

Felix guts out a big win over Ymer and gives the silence to the Ymer supporters who I gotta say got a little unruly at times. Way to go Felix!!

Felix gets the winner of Fritz vs. Simon, it will likely be Fritz, but with the partisan French supporters, it will have a Davis Cup type atmosphere.

This win really shows the growth in FAAs game. He didn't have the A game today, not even close, but he found a way to make his B game good enough.
This is not something that would have been the case earlier this season or last year. Winning this event seems a long ways off, but this hostile atmosphere might be just what he needs to get the extra kick that may be required.
