LAK have too many F's, not enough LHD.
Valimaki for L Anderson or Vilardi might make sense. Or something more complicated like:
Hanifin+Valimaki+
for
Arvidsson+Bjornfoot (21 yo LHD waiver exempt; better than Valimaki)

If we're making a deal with LA, perhaps we could get Rasmus Kupari? He was a first-rounder like Valimaki, and like Valimaki, he's been sliding down the depth charts each year (he's a year younger than Val). A swap of reclamation projects? Kupari is a 6'2" C/RW, with elite speed and stickhandling, and plenty of skill. We would likely have to add a pick.
Another young Kings' player I like is RW Carl Grundstrom. He likes the physical side, and can be a buzzsaw. He's been cast as a bottom-sixer, but he managed 4 pts in 6 games in the playoffs, to sit among the Kings' scoring leaders.

Dare to dream lol but that is the kind of homerun cut that a sneaky GM cements his legacy with
Hanifin (50% retained)
2023 1st (top 3 protected)
Coranato
For
Pastrnak (50% retained)
Zboril
Frederick
How far off is it? The need for Coranato is lessened with pastrnak and mitigates potential of bust or going Ufa. Not sure on cap. I think hanifin being from Boston and salary at 2.4m x2 would entice them. Need to figure out the cap later to resign pastrnak but Calgary cap situation is actually pretty flexible with no bad deals after this year. Toffoli could easily be moved for value and a guy like Pelletier working on line 2 lw and moving magiapane to rw is not unfathomable. Ideally, we'd acquire a top end 2C like Horvat or Miller or even Necas or Shiefele but that could be more expensive and less impactful than pastrnak. Added Frederick for C depth, realize doesn't solve that issue
I worry that finding a 2c that isn't going to come with a bad contract or isn't going be too expensive in trade just won't be a possibility. Besides, I have my doubts Hanifin will re-sign and even if he does, can you stomach 8x8m for him? Can't lose him for nothing either

There was a number of Bruins players that wanted out, but it turned out it was because of coach Cassidy. With Cassidy gone, those disgruntled players seem to have been satiated. Pastrnak isn't going anywhere, unfortunately.

That is true for the others, but wasn’t Pastrnak having beef with Sweeney?

Not sure what he would cost in a trade but the main Coyotes beat guy has indicated talks on a long-term extension haven't gone particularly well. They're set to head to arbitration in two days.
The Coyotes are at 2.5, Crouse is at 4.

Pastrnak, Marchand and most of the rest of the top of the lineup liked Cassidy. His beef was allegedly with Sweeney, and theres a high probability that isnt even true. The Boston media is basically just a bunch of Eric Francis clones.
If they are out of it by the tdl, and Pasta has indicated he isnt staying then they may move him for futures but with the injury situation being what it is, and the owner being who he is, theyll need all hands on deck to start the season and id say that theres an almost 0% chance he gets dealt this summer.

We have been linked to JT Miller and Toews in the past.
https://syndication.bleacherreport.c...toews.amp.html

Pundits have said Treliving is trying to make a big move and both these players would qualify
Miller - can’t see Vancouver eager to trade him to us and we would have to pay a premium. They want to remake their d so imagine andersson would have to be going back, along with a prospect and first rounder.
Toews. A lot more affordable but salary would have to be retained. I like the suggestion made that mony heads the other way along with some futures (maybe that’s where valamaki comes into play).
With both players we get a true 2C which allows backlund to focus on 3c duties. Both players seem like Sutter types as well.
I’ve thought about Blake wheeler as well, as acquisition cost shouldn’t be high end he can play c. That extra year is a killer though, and not sure how willing Winnipeg would be to eat salary to make a deal work. Probably a long shot at best.

I think Konecny would look really good on the Flames and would thrive under Sutter. If he now had personal connections to the City and Philly was willing to trade him, I would jump on that.

I think it'd be cool to acquire a 50% retained Towes in a low-cost move. I feel like he has game left, and getting him away from the tire fire in Chicago would probably further invigorate him.
Miller...I just don't know. If he would sign here? Heck yes. As a rental? I still don't like huge cost rentals. Paying what we did for Jarnkrok was heart breaking without getting him to sign an extension (I really wish we had extended him...)

Do the Flames want Miller, Huberdeau, Weegar, Lindholm, Mangiapane all making massive money in their 30’s?
Miller would be an amazing fit for the team if he had several years left but he wants money and I don’t really think he wants to sign in Canada but if he does it is likely Vancouver.
Would the Hawks move Toews just to move him? They want some good future assets in my opinion especially if they are retaining any salary.
Konency is a great target for the team due to age, contract and connections to the city.

Someone had to put up points in Arizona. I would be very cautious paying up for Crouse.
Josh Anderson is seriously overpaid and there are a lot of similarities between the two.
Crouse on a short term deal to test out would be ok though. 3M x 2 ot something.
