Asking for inquiry into donations in a riding and allowing an inquiry to take place then naming anyone identified as engaged in corrupt practices is one thing. She's basically saying "these people are members of United Front" and circulating a list of names while whipping people up into a fervor on social media, before any real investigation is done. That's irresponsible.

Watching Justin speak it comes across as there's no way at all that there will be a public Inquiry.
That the system works, we have mechanisms in place so don't worry about it.
At the same time yesterday the Libs and NDP blocked the request for Justin's chief of staff testifies.

Even though it sounds like a cop out, how useful would a public inquiry even be when we're talking about classified information that can't be revealed as part of it?
Like it or not, a parliamentary committee where the members have the security clearance to view the classified information might be the only effective way to get to the bottom of it. And because it's a minority government, it's not like the Liberals can just control it.

B.C. Premier David Eby said he’s astonished that the federal Health Department gave the green light to a Langley cannabis company to produce, sell, and distribute cocaine.
When asked by a reporter about the approval, Eby slammed Health Canada for not consulting B.C. before granting the company approval to produce cocaine.
“If Health Canada did in fact do this, they did it, not only without engaging with the province, but without notice to us,”
Michael Forbes, CEO of Adastra, said in a statement the company “will evaluate how the commercialization of (cocaine) fits in with our business model at Adastra in an effort to position ourselves to support the demand for a safe supply of cocaine.”

$XTRX on the CSE if anybody is curious about getting a piece of the cocaine business. People love drugs.

I'm no expert but a public inquiry can still call for classified documents and testimony, like the committee though the judge could basically do the review behind closed doors.

We see it in every committee that the Liberals combine with the NDP and block what they don't like. Its part of their services agreement that the NDP has to help the Liberals not get embarrassed in committee. We saw it yesterday when the Libs and NDP denied calling Justin's chief of staff. We've also seen denial of documents.
Also the annoyance of votes to shut down meetings on top of fillibusters.

I doubt that our 5 eyes partners are looking at this mess and saying, lets share all our data with this government.

Justin will continue to do whatever Justin wants with zero accountability as long as he has his lap dog. Get used to it...that alliance works far to well for it to be leaving any time soon.

I'm not even so sure that a public inquiry under the way its proposed would be anything but a watered down mess.
Basically Singh wants it to be a general interference thing, so they want to spread it out to the whole Trucker Convoy thing and perceived Russian Interference. You can see it by Julien's performance in the last couple of days where he tries to shift the discussion to the Convoy and Russians.
Its a nice bit of strategy by Singh and if Trudeau agrees to it, gives him cover.

And they certainly are not saying “let’s have a public inquiry”, that would kill all intelligence sharing on the spot. What a terrible idea.

Not really when CSIS itself said that there wasn't significant foreign or Russian interference in the stupid convoy.
When the Government couldn't find proof of significant foreign money.
We don't need a fishing trip that waters this down.

And I doubt classified intelligence getting leaked to the press endears CSIS to other countries' intelligence agencies either.
Assuming the info is accurate and provides the full context, it's likely in the public interest to leak it. But intelligence agencies don't tend to be concerned too much with public interest, at least relative to the importance they place on secrecy.

It is pretty laughable when a region will only vote for one party.

Had an idea!
|
So how does this play out, and is it likely that we'll even have a vote on the HoC floor to decide whether there is an inquiry? Can't the Liberals block it from getting there?
