I re-watched The Thing (1982) last night because I thought the setting would make the house feel colder (it worked). Forty years later the effects still horrify.

I might have shared this before but I showed it to my wife and boys a few years ago and filmed them during "the scene" to get their reactions. The boys were unfazed but my wife was not.

The 4K disk of The Thing released last year looks amazing, its the best way to watch the film in my opinion. If you haven't seen it and your a fan of the movie it's a must watch.
I recently watched the original The Thing From Another World, and for the most part it held up (except for the look of the Alien and some of the special effects).
The prequel is decent, but really wish they went with practical effects instead of CGI.
To say it was confusing would be an ... errr ... understatement.
One of those movies that you'd likely need to watch over and over again to fully comprehend.
Wouldn't recommend it (unless you're a repeated viewing kind of guy/gal).
Did you turn on the subtitles? at least you had that choice. In the theatre it was like watching a whole movie with 6 Banes. I guess they did it on purpose to make you watch it multiple times.

Yep. I’d read about that prior so we had the volume cranked and subtitles on.
Still extremely difficult to follow.

It's not his best work for sure, but it is certainly a cool movie. I enjoyed it the first time for the choreography and stuff. But it is definitely worth multiple viewings to pick up more as you go.
