Here's a nice dilemma to have - Shapo just won the opening set 6-4 over Medvedev and Felix is just about to start his match versus Rune. Which one to watch?

Felix takes the first set 6-3 over Rune. Meanwhile in Vienna, we're going to a third set as Medvedev takes set 2 6-3. Denis playing very well, but Medvedev just has a way of grinding you down.

Denis down a break in set 3 serving at 3-1. Just a few errors creeping into his game.

Just too good from Daniil - Anybody else (okay maybe Djokovic) and Denis likely has an easy service game, but Medvedev breaks again with some outstanding shots.

Man, Shapo saved six match points and it took some Danill magic to finally get over the line. 4-6 6-3 6-2 doesn't do justice to how well Denis played today. Nice embrace at the net between the two guys, good to see.

Felix breaks at a great time and is serving for the championship at 6-5 in set 2. Rune is dropping f-bombs at Mohamed Lahyani.

Felix now has usurped Andrey Rublev in the race to Turin. He's basically a lock unless Hurkacz or Fritz win Paris (and Felix could play Fritz in round 3 at the Paris Masters).

Good tournament for Shapo who just fell short in the 3rd set against Medvedev. No shame there. Not much more you can say about Felix as he's only the 3rd player this year to win a tournament without losing on serve. He's finally hit that next level and hopefully he can sustain it going into 2023. Rune did have a gripe on that critical service game where the wall graphics behind Felix changed during the point. That shouldn't happen. He did have a game point after so not that he was robbed but people running the tournament need to be on top of that stuff.

It's very strange given how inconsistent (borderline consistently bad) Felix has been throughout the year before going on this streak. Even the tourneys he has made a run in, with few exceptions, have resulted in losses to players he should have probably beat. I really hope this isn't a blip and is the new normal.

Not to be forgotten in today's win by Felix is the fact that he wiped that smug smile off the face of Patrick Mouratoglou.

The two guys who like to serve-and-volley (Cressy and Huesler) both won their opening round matches in Paris. Cressy dispatched Schwartzman (not really an upset as Diego has not been in good form) while Huesler who gave Felix all he could handle in Basel upset Jannik Sinner in straight sets 6-2 6-3.
