I don't like Wills in any fashion but I really don't blame him about calling PBP from a monitor. That is absolute garbage.
I don't know if Sportsnet or the Flames are the reason behind that but it's absolute nonsense.

Wills won't ever enter the broadcasting HOF but I find him average at worst. He's not terrible like some try to paint and I find the criticism of him a little strange from a fanbase that's endured arguably two of the worst PBP men in the history of the NHL in Loubardias and Kerr. I get that is personality may rub some the wrong way but his play calling is good. Not great but good and not horrible like some of the past guys.

Of we're talking awful broadcasters we need to bring up Charlie Simmer. I don't care if he was riding shotgun. The absolute worst.
Also awful was Roger Millions on the Flames PPVs with Pep.

I cant find it now but I read an article earlier this year that listed the teams that are keeping their radio PBP team at home (calling road games from video feeds like the flames are doing) and it was a surprisingly long list. might be a trend.

Ask any decision-maker in any business, and they'll tell you cost-cutting is hardly a "trend". I don't know a lot about broadcasting, but does being in the arena really make that much of a difference?

With radio being a dying format and all the video feeds available it tends to seem like a logical progression to take money out of the radio PBP budget

Indeed. I was surprised by the poster saying Edmonton get 12 hours of fresh content per day, can that be true?

What game feeds are 960 broadcasting on each playoff evening? Or are they broadcasting local stuff?

I don't mind Wills except he said he grew up a Gretzky fan and likes the current Oiler jersey it's one of his faves ... know your audience FFS .. yes I'm petty.

Oh man, I am so glad I am not the only one that not only noticed this but was bothered by it. Every time on the Flames roundtable or post game he says it I cringe. Kind of like Eric Duhatschek, (who by the way as a side note likes to remind folks how he is on the Hall of Fame committee)...says "Mickah" Kiprusoff

Interesting way to announce the new head coach, but I'll take it.

That's funny. I was just thinking to myself the Barn Burner guys should invite Iggy on to just shoot the #### with Rhett.
I wonder if choir boy Jarome would let the odd s-bomb or F-major slip.

Did he ever call in ? I tuned in to listen to those 2 struggle to talk about some of Jarome’s biggest memories. I realized then how old I am I guess … I didn’t think 38 was old. But man.
