Is this because you want to not support the Trump administration policies or is it because you have a higher level of fear about something bad happening while you are there?
Yes.

Maybe we need a device rental service for people travelling to the US, leave your devices at home and rent something that's got nothing on it. Or just don't go to the US.
A Vancouver man was denied entry into the United States after a US Customs and Border Patrol officer read his profiles on the gay hookup app Scruff and the website BBRT.
The officer suspected the man was a sex worker because he found messages from the man saying he was “looking for loads,” and assumed it meant he was soliciting sex for cash.
While the misunderstanding might sound funny, it underscores the bitter reality that non-Americans have very few rights at the border, and that even suspicion of criminal behaviour can be used to deny non-Americans entry.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer barred reporters from several large media outlets from participating in a scheduled press briefing Friday. Two months ago, in a panel discussion, he insisted that open access for the media is “what makes a democracy a democracy versus a dictatorship.”
Anyone familiar with US political history: is there any precedent for this type of action?
Media has changed so significantly it's hard to find similar instances.
Hearst for example had an antagonistic relationship with FDR at one point, but that's a publisher attacking a public official, and I don't think the White House restricted access to Hearst publications.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Friday that it plans to start awarding contracts by mid-April for President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico, signalling that he is aggressively pursuing plans to erect “a great wall” along the 2,000-mile border.
The agency said it will request bids on or around March 6 and that companies would have to submit “concept papers” to design and build prototypes by March 10, according to a website for federal contractors. The field of candidates will be narrowed by March 20 and finalists must submit offers with their proposed costs by March 24.
Edit: I wonder how much Don is going to make off this when companies he has stock in get the bid.
Aren't people just going to find new ways around the wall? Super tunnels, lightweight ladders, etc? Also, won't this have negative consequences on local wildlife migrations?
Surely they can't be that incompetent to think that drugs and illegal immigration are stopped by a single wall. There's many different ways to get foreign things into a country.
While the Germany comment was funny and appropriate, remember also that during WWII even Disney got on the propaganda train for the US.
Private companies aligning with the state are a feature of fascism. It doesn't mean they are fascist, but it is one indicator.
And Trump is trying to make private companies compliant and friendly. He's not fascist but is headed in a direction that everyone should be concerned about.
Shep Smith once again lambasting the White House and explaining in plain English how journalism works... wonder what happens to him in retribution.

I saw that Fox News joined the complaint made to the White house even though they weren't blocked. Even though they veer extremely right, they do staff some real journalists and I think they hold themselves to some kind of journalistic standard. It will be interesting to see how the Trump presidency plays out with them. They were very anti Trump in primary season. They were definitely anti Hillary in the general election cycle, but didn't really go very pro Trump until after he won.
The right support him now because he's a winner for them, but I have to think there's a lot of Republicans that have got to be seeing that he is going against a lot of what they say are their core values. I think it could be Fox news that could end up leading the Republicans against Trump movenment.

Nothing. Shepard Smith has been doing this for years. He's the conscious of Fox News and allows them to still sell themselves as a legit news organization.

I take it that makes Hannity the unconscious of Fox, that explains a lot!
What is bad about all this is even right leaning news publications like The Hill got banned, heck even BBC and Politico with their minimal partisan bias and highly fact based and analytical reporting got banned. Really is just "Not pro Trump" = Fake news = banned from White House. In contrast Putin allows BBC into his and has actual discourse with their reporters.
Apparent exchange that got the BBC reporters flagged for blacklist from a previous presser
Quote:
QUESTION: Could I just ask you -- thank you very much, Mr. President. The trouble...
TRUMP: Where are you from?
QUESTION: BBC.
TRUMP: Here's another beauty.
QUESTION: That's a good line. Impartial, free and fair.
TRUMP: Yeah. Sure.
QUESTION: Mr. President...
TRUMP: Just like CNN right?
QUESTION: On the travel ban -- we could banter back and forth. On the travel ban would you accept that that was a good example of the smooth running of government...
TRUMP: Yeah, I do. I do. Let me tell you about this government...
QUESTION: Were there any mistakes...
TRUMP: Wait. Wait. I know who you are. Just wait.

It's too bad Megyn Kelly is gone as well. She was the other voice of reason.
