Why would any prospective free agent (of worth) want to sign in Edmonton? I can't think of a single one that hasn't been scratched, waived, or bought out. Not saying Frederic or Mangiapane have been good this season, but they're being treated disrespectfully by the organization.

You pretty much answered your own question.
Its not like NHL teams were lining up for these guys and most of the time Edmonton winds up negotiating against themselves. You think Trent Frederic had a multi-year deal on the table with anyone else?
Mangiapane probably thought his career was done and then...Edmonton throws this contract at him?
Hell...I'd take it too. Barely have to play, dont have to produce, its basically free money.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Condoms were first invented by an Edmontonian and made from sheep intestines. A calgarian perfected the condom by removing the intestines from the sheep first.

We’ll take mango back for future considerations and then flip him for another 2nd next year
My price for taking Mangiapane's cap hit off the Oilers' hands is at least a 3rd. As I said in another thread, Future Considerations is a pretty coveted guy around the league, and I'm not trading him for just anything!

A third? No way, I want a first. Tre traded a first to get rid of Mony.
I mentioned this in another thread but as an interesting article that caught my eye this morning on the Athletic titled "The NHL teams riding 11 statistical droughts that feel impossible but apparently aren’t". It's actually a good read as there are truly some bizarre statistics for some organizations and the Flames are one of the 11 teams. So are the Oilers.
The Oilers haven’t finished first in their division in 39 years
I have to double-check this one each time I see it. Yes, this goes all the way back to 1987, which was the peak of the Wayne Gretzky dynasty. Yes, it includes the entire Connor McDavid era. If you’re keeping track, the Oilers have won two Stanley Cups and been to the Final on three other occasions over this span. But after finishing first in the Smythe Division for six straight seasons from 1981-82 until 1986-87, the Oilers apparently figured that was enough. It hasn’t happened since.
Over that time, the Oilers have finished second 11 times, in all of the Smythe, the Northwest, the Pacific and even the Scotia NHL® North Division during that one year that literally nobody called it that. But never first. It’s the longest active drought in the league, one year ahead of the New York Islanders.
Odds it ends soon: You’d have to say pretty high, since the Pacific stinks this year. The Oilers are neck-and-neck with the Knights for top spot, so this one could fall.
Nothing says no good like going 39 years without winning a division title.
