The 3 man playoff rotation would be: Estrada, Happ, Stroman. Honestly, I don't really see the need for another starting pitcher if that's the 3 we run out there. Hutch can slide in when Sanchez goes to the pen later this year. Spending any sort of money / prospects on starting pitching just seems foolish at this point.

The Jays need to go all in . I'm not sure they need another starter / any are available , but go get 2 power bullpen arms !

You don't move a guy like Sanchez from the pen to starter. That could ruin his career. Once he's in the pen, he's there for the year.

Yeah guys if Sanchez moves to the pen, that's where he stays the rest of the season. There's no question there.

Ya true. I forgot to factor in that other teams blow leads as well. I obviously just mainly focus on the Jays. It does seem that most of the blown leads were a lot earlier in the season and that they have been a lot better lately.

The Jays have blown 13 out of 39 save opportunities.

Jays sign Erik Kratz. End of Thole?

Baltimore loses again! They are in a little funk. Hopefully the Jays can make it a good series!

In the old days (with 2 playoff rounds) 3 starters was the norm. Not so much anymore. If you are winning the World Series, 4 starting pitchers will start at least 2 games!

Huge 3 game series coming up against the OrioLOLs. Acestrada, Happ, Sanchez vs Gausman, Gallardo, Tillman. Here's hoping Baltimore's horrid road record continues at the Rogers Centre. Let's Go Blue Jays!

Will the Knuckler be around

Clearly is not a pitcher they would want if they make the playoffs...

Jays just need to take 2 of 3 here and keep closing ground. I'm getting the feeling this pennant race isn't going to have any big splashes, and the Jays will slowly reel in the O's, and then grow their lead throughout September. I just think they are the better team in the long run.

BEEZER: Bautista for Scherzer trade rumour simply illogical
http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Baseball/.../22655120.html

If there is any truth to the rumor of Bautista for Scherzer, it shows that money isn't the reason to trade Bautista.
Quote:
The Nationals’ ace is locked up until 2021. Seven years, $210 million, in a heavily back-loaded deal. Washington paid him $10 million in 2015, $15 million this year, 2017 and 2018, and then it goes up to $35 million annually for 2019, 2020 and 2021.
$35MM/year? Insane.

I don't care if it's $35million per, if you get scherzer for 2 months of Bautista, do it!

Yup - and if he continues to pitch well you could probably trade him after the 2018 season and still get a decent return.

Don't see how Washington does that deal though.

I think I'm going to have to stay off baseball twitter this weekend. Bautista is not getting traded (and neither is EE). Even if they lose him at the end of the year, they get the compensation draft pick. Therefore, the package back for him must be that much better because even if the Jay's don't re-sign him, which is not clear at this point, they would get a solid draft pick anyway.

True, however if a team were to offer an "ace" ..... Jays could be tempted.

I doubt the Jays will do much before the deadline.

At most they will pick up a pitching on an expiring contract.

What team is going to offer an ace for EE or Jose though?
