Updated chart of the "consensus rankings" for ISS, McKeen's, Red Line, Pronman, FC, and the CSS combined provided by THW. I have now also included Button's last update and Red line's newest update
The green triangle represents the average ranking the prospect got. The vertical line shows the range that the prospect has been ranked. The lowest point of the vertical line shows the highest ranking the prospect got, while the highest point shows the lowest ranking the prospect got.
The chart gives a visual representation of how widely varied the different scouting services have each prospect ranked.
With Red line's latest update, no one has Ekblad ranked less than 2, hinting that he is the clear top pick among the scouting services.
Last year did anyone have Jones ranked less than 2?
He doesn't look undersized at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames took him as well. Speedy RH shot with elite offensive skill? Why the heck not?

His dad had crazy skills as well. But he was soft as butter and never really a difference-maker in the NHL. No thanks.

If all of the other three (Ekblad- S. Reinhart - Bennett) are chosen, I wouldn't be mad at picking Nylander. Plays center (will most likely play RW on our team), has a right handed shot, has good offensive talent with the provided video. I wouldn't be mad if we picked him, but that's only if the top 3 are chosen already.

That's a bit of what I was looking for in that video and he didn't seem to shy away from going to the net but it's hard to tell just from player highlights how he battles in the corner or along the boards.
The danger with this draft is that there is little consensus past the top 3. More so with this year than others, it's the teams with the best scouting and development that will win this draft not the teams picking highest.

I would love to hear the discussions that go on at the meetings in Toronto especially about the top few players of the draft. I think we are in a pretty good situation having our scouting staff including Burke with there opinions and now having Treliving and the coyotes knowledge on the young players. I would pay to watch that content even if names were blanked out so not to much info was revealed.
Can very well boil down to which player interviews the best with teams.
Say the whole "Draisaitl wants to be an Oiler" thing rings true and flat out says I dont like your team to Calgary but the Oil pass on Draisaitl anyways, Then yeah I can absolutely see the Flames taking one of the wingers.

I'd take Ehlers over Nylander. He's bigger, faster, and seems to be more dynamic. If we were picking 7th or 8th, then it would be more of an option.
Draisaitl, Dal Colle and Ehlers all in my opinion are better options at the moment.
I'm not so sure, I like Ehlers more than Dal Colle but Nylander appears to have the same quality skill set as Ehlers. And given the Flames lack of depth on RW, would appear to be a more favorable pick.
Really, this draft is going to be really entertaining to watch unfold. This year is a year where almost anything can happen and there will be no set play list.
I really do not think even the pundits will go "Wow that pick was right off of the board" if a team took someone like Ehlers or Nylander over Draisaitl or Dal Colle.

This is how I see the top 6 breaking down unless trades happen.
1 - FLA - Ekblad
2 - BUF - Reinhart/Bennett (whichever they deem as a better fit)
3 - EDM - Draisaitl
4 - CGY - Reinhart/Bennett (we'll gladly take the other)
5 - NYI - Dal Colle
6 - VAN - Ehlers (They have Hansen and Jensen both of whom are Danish like Ehlers)

The way I see our draft position now, we either get a tier 1 center in Bennett or Reinhart, or we have to go down to tier 2 and draft Draisaitl or Nylander.
Why are scouts' opinions so mixed about Nylander? I've seen him listed anywhere from 2nd to outside of the top 10. Is it size? Fear that his game isn't suited to the NHL?
