I could believe the Montreal rumor since I do believe Kadri wants to play in Canada and would prefer to be on a team that can compete. Montreal is an iconic franchise so I could see the appeal.

It would be nice if he expanded that alleged list to include Ottawa because I think they have some interesting assets as well.

Vancouver is not competitive enough even with Kadri, and while he may put Edmonton or Winnipeg over the top and give those teams a real chance at winning I can’t see him giving the green light to either city.

don’t think the Wings have been tanking at all. They’ve actively tried to improve through trades and UFA signings. Bringing in guys like Kane, DeBrincat, Tarasenko, Compher, Copp, Gustafsson, Chiarot, Talbot, and more.

If anything, they’re a cautionary tale of what happens when you try to keep competing. That said, the jury’s still out. We’ll see if Raymond, Kasper, Seider, and Edvinsson can take that next step.

They’re all promising young players, but so far they haven’t shown they can push the team over the top even with help from Larkin, DeBrincat, Kane, etc.

Honestly, it feels a lot like the path the Flames are on. Build through the draft, but no full tank and keep vets scattered through the lineup.

Or even like the last iteration of the Islanders (before this last trade deadline), a few strong young pieces like Sorokin, Barzal, and Dobson, plus solid vets scattered throughout the roster, but ultimately not enough to contend.

In today’s NHL, it takes elite talent at multiple positions and real depth to be a serious contender. Just having “some good players” doesn’t cut it, every team has some.

Kadri + Suzuki makes a lot of sense for the Habs down the middle, and addresses what is probably their only massive need to push them up into that higher tier. I could see Kadri looking at the Habs roster and being intrigued by their ability to compete (especially while Hutson is on his ELC)

I'd love to see him go there rather than Toronto...just for that extra little bit of spice, and they actually have futures/assets worth targeting.

Seems like speculation from Frank.

I'm not a big fan of Robertson's fit in Calgary, timing, the whole works. Feels misaligned with what the Flames are doing.

I would be okay with Robertson and seeing how the fit is and if it doesn’t work moving on in the summer when he would be a RFA.

Tough to see how that deal doesn’t involve additions from Calgary?

Coleman? Sure!
Vegas 1st? Nah

I think if the Flames were to trade for Robertson, it would make a ton of sense to move on from Coleman. Would get a great return because Coleman plays that "Florida" style that is coveted at the moment.

Robertson and Bischel for Andersson and Coleman. Dallas gets their coveted top-pairing defenseman and a playoff warrior/local boy, and Calgary gets a talented (albeit expensive) winger and a young LHD. No picks needed.

If it's Robertson I do think the three team trade makes the most sense with the rumour being that Anaheim had interest in Robertson...

Anaheim: Robertson
Flames: MacTavish
Stars: Andersson + ??? (IMO this would have to be an additional piece coming from the Flames as I think Robertson = MacTavish > Andersson in terms of value).

Andersson and Coleman 50% from the flames would be a solid package for the stars in that case. Maybe Pospisil over Coleman? But I’d be fine with either

I agree with this and did a pretty big proposal since I think the Flames need to kick in some youth for this deal to make sense?

Anaheim: Robertson
Calgary: McTavish
Dallas: Andersson+VGK 1st+ Pospisil

Anaheim adds a top tier local talent as they try and end their playoff drought. Calgary adds a big center that fits with Wolf, Coronato, Parekh. Dallas adds a coveted right shot D, are able to replace what Marchment brought for far less, and recoup a pick in a draft where they didn’t have one.

Agreed re: price. 1-for-1 is tilted in Flames favor.

Andersson + Zary for Robertson + Bishel?

Robertson + Bourque for Ras + Coleman + ~2nd.

Is that fair value at all?

It's still hard for me to believe that McTavish is seriously on the table, but if he is, I think you definitely go for it especially if Andersson in main player in the trade for the Flames.

I like Robertson too. Not a flashy guy, but puts up points and seems to have a positive attitude.

Feels light from Calgary. Rasmussen turns 29 at the beginning of the year and Coleman is 34 in November. Robertson turns 26 in one week and Bourque doesn’t turn 24 until next year.

Tough to see Dallas give up that much youth AND the best player in the trade

McTavish has been the dream target of the offseason as the RFA that most profiles to the Flames needs. A big body center with a 0.6ppg average over 229 games and he is still 6.5 months away from turning 23.

I would be so bold to state if the Flames could acquire McTavish without sacrificing Parekh/Wolf/Coronato/26 1st then I think there is a legit chance that Conroy can build a contending team without going in the tank. Having McTavish, Wolf, Parekh, Coronato would give me a lot of optimism moving forward.
