I can't be the only person that was appalled by the style of game the Kings played against the Flames. Crosby and Malkin would struggle to score playing low event, neutral zone trap hockey. They are playing to win games 1-0 without their starting goaltender. That's not going to work out well.

Vasilevskiy is rumored to have an injury (fractured foot) that could have him out until February.

Hurry, Smith for Vasilevskiy. It would have to happen now to make sense.

It actually makes sense from a Tampa perspective but not Calgary, unless we have something else in the works. He's familiar with the team and is on an expiring contract.

It makes zero sense for Tampa.
An injured Vas would still have exceptional trade value.

What’s Ben Hanowski up to these days? Can we throw him in?

While they're at it, the Flames should trade Stone for McAvoy since Chara went down last night.

As sub par as Smith has been of late, that would blow a massive hole in our goaltending. As good as Rittich has been, it’s still way too early to give him full control of the crease.

Let me clarify, IF, Calgary had a trade in the works for another goalie, ie. Schneider, Lehner etc., it makes sense to explore a Mike Smith trade. I wasn't endorsing a 1 for 1 trade with Tampa.

You actually said it made sense for TB? What did you mean by that then?

Probably meant it made sense to look at Smith, not the 1-for-1 it read like.

If Vasilevsky is out long term, it makes sense for them to look at goalies on expiring contracts that will not handcuff them for years. Mike Smith fits the bill in this case. He's more proven than Louie Domingue.

Unless they amputate his foot, every single GM in the history of the NHL would jump on this deal!

I don't think he is talking about acquiring Vasilevsky.
I think he is talking about trading Smith to Tampa for picks or something..
then acquiring a goalie from somewhere else.
At least that is what I think

Did anyone else hear Peters mention that the night before the Hamilton trade went down, he thought the Flames were going to make a trade with a different team? I would love to know which team the Flames were going to trade with and what the deal was.

It's weird to me that he keeps bringing up that he thought we had a deal with another team.
