Yesavage made this game an absolute gem though. What. A. Debut.
I don't know, man....Boyle's stuff was almost as good as KY's. Just a pitcher's duel and found a way to scrap it together...not one I'm going to look in the mouth.

Great work by Fisher there to close it out.

Rangers losing. So the the playoff magic number is likely 3. Been a looooonnnnggg time since they had that kind of cushion. Even in '15 it was closer to the finish line than this.

5 up with 12 to play plus the tiebreak, that about seals the deal. Can't see it not happening now.

And to add to this Woods-Richardson with 11 K's in 6 innings of shutout ball. That Berrios trade working out in more ways then one

If the Jays go 6-6 in the final 12, the Yankees would have to run the table to catch them.

So yeah... getting pretty close.

Fisher! 3 straight Ks to seal the deal. What an outing, and what a debut for Yesavage! Some 1st inning jitters followed by dominance. This kid is an absolute stud. We don’t get the same result if Berrios starts this game.

It is pretty crazy how far the bullpen has come. Doesn't feel like that long ago it was a bit of a mess, now it is pretty unreal. What a turnaround.

Now hopefully the offense can get things going here a bit, they have been really not generating offense consistently here.

The math is looking good. But I see 6 games against the Rays and 3 games against the Sox and say hold on to your butts. A couple more good results and we can breathe easy

For even the last month or more, the attainable goal isn’t the division, it’s the bye to avoid the best of 3 vs Boston or the Yanks, which is how the opponents are shaking out.

The mental energy and stress that a wild card round will result in, won’t do them well even if they get through. That pressure will be there if they start in round 2, sure, but at least it’s a 5 game series.

At this point winning the Division is going to result in the 1 or 2 seed. Seattle can only get to 94 wins if they go 12-0 and Houston can only hit 93...Jays beat them if they go 6-6. Maybe they need to tank out of the top seed and avoid the stress of playing the Yankees and Red Sox winner who will come into that series with momentum.

Orelvis Martinez released - which means nobody claimed him on waivers.

Bichette will hopefully be able to DH when he comes back. Our infield defense will be better aligned that way anyways. Big question is where does that leave Santander?

Also there is a risk to it impacting George, who has thrived in the DH role.

The Jays are as close to 1st overall in MLB as they are the 2nd place in the AL!

Division is ours , bye is ours . It’s amazing we’re 6 clear of NYY and people are still semi scared

We have been the best team in MLB for 3.5 months

(And now you can all blame me when we lose 10/12 to end the season)

I'm hoping they sign Bichette and move him off SS anyway, and maybe this becomes a catalyst for that change. There's no way he has the range for that play Gimenez made to end the 8th yesterday, for example.

I agree it's a bit risky moving Springer (who has been the best player this year) to the field full time for the playoffs - him hitting at a near MVP level has been an important part of the team's success.

I wish Bo was willing to be 2B early on. We would still have Semien, imo.
