They offered him a few when they signed Sutter. In season as well. Pretty sure Maloney said that.

It is a good thing that even given his slower offensive start he is on pace for more than 15 goals and he makes less than 5 million then.

Vladar to Toronto actually makes no sense. Yeah Stolarz is out 4 weeks or so, but what is that, maybe 4 or 5 starts for Vladar if he gets traded there? Then Stolarz comes back and you have a 3-headed monster in net. Is Vladar that much of an upgrade, or even any kind of an upgrade, over Stolarz or Woll that you would send one of those guys down? Probably not.

Probably just Brad doing is usual "due diligence", seeing if he can get Vladar for a 7th or some throwaway player. No thanks.

That is pretty much my recollection as well. I thought it was reported by someone that Edwards offered an extension to Sutter and Treliving at the same, Sutter accepted his and Treliving didn't which caught Edwards off guard.

At that point, the Flames should have just canned Treliving and started the search for a new GM. A GM with one foot out the door isn't one you want in charge of trading or trying to retain players.

It is weird, if true, that Edwards offered the extension directly to the coach. Could have been a reason why Treliving decided not to stay. Although I personally suspect he was already planning to move on.

Boy, that meeting by Terry Pegula did wonders for the Sabers. Laine made them look like chumps by standing at the left FO dot and snap off a hatty of stand still one timers.

They should have fired him but let him sign extensions and Kadri. He probably saw the mess and said this is my chance.

Towards the end him and Sutter started to beef and not talk. Toxic season.

Elias Petterson must be crapping his pants with the Buffalo rumors. His NMC doesn't kick in until next season, imagine getting dealt to that tire fire before it does.

If rangers lose tonight - good chance a move is made. A loss puts them at basically .500 hockey now.

I feel like he's going to Dallas at the deadline.

Yeah, I don't believe the Vladar to Toronto (won't even address the Cooley to Toronto as that's absurd for both teams right now) at all. It makes no sense at all considering the injury time and Vladar's production. Where did that even come from?

Vladar is significantly worse that Stolarz and Woll.

Vladar is a career backup with middling numbers.

Stolarz has been one of the premium back up in the league during his career and has shown this year the ability to handle a bigger load.

Woll would have been the #1 goalie in Toronto absent his early season injury, and he slowing playing himself back into that role.

Once Stolarz returns, Vladar would be in the press box for the rest of the season, or likely traded again.

He would be a 4 week rental and playing back up during that time.

I don’t think Vladar is significantly worse, I just don’t think he’s significantly better. And that goes for the goaltending market at large.

That’s the challenge the Flames face. There’s no market for Bladar at the moment. That may change but with Gibson still out there as weak as Mrazek and Valmelka (two others who’s name I’ve heard on various podcast podcasts etc) what team would pony up and offer a second for Vladar?

I don’t think it’s a huge disappointment or anything. This sort of thing is likely to happen more than once. Kuzmenko is another example of a tradable asset either failing to perform well, or just not exceeding and thereby reducing or nullifying their trade value altogether. That’s just part of the process here with the Flames is that not all assets are going up return good/great value. Some you might get nothing for.

All of his goals this year have come from that spot. Ovechkin 2.0.

Whatever Sabres fans are left don't even care anymore. Who cares if they acquire Pettersen? He'd just continue to suck or more likely suck even worse for 'X' # of years til they trade him to a real team where he then blossoms into a star.

I would think Cooley makes more sense for them as he can be up as the backup while Stolarz is hurt and then go down to the minors once he's back. Can't see the same with Vladar.
