My friends are both flying westjet from LAX to YYC. That one is canceled without explanation. Checking the westjet website, yesterday's flight was also canceled as was the earlier LAX - YYC flight today. I'm not sure if that has to do with equipment not being here or what.

I am pretty pessimistic about being able to get back to Canada tomorrow, at this point...
You ever seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles? Look around the terminal for a John Candy-like looking fellow?

I have had some amazingly awful travels in my lifetime, but almost none of them compare to Amtrak.

Never will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Amtrak.

They make WestJet look like ordained Saints.

The only way I'm ever getting on an Amtrak again will be at gunpoint....even then though....

It's more of a flight to Leduc.

Couldn’t be worse than Greyhound. That is my baseline for worst form of travel.

It can. Granted, its a toss-up.

My Amtrak trip from Shelby to Chicago was longer and more arduous than the Greyhound from Calgary to Toronto.

Apparently YVR is limiting international arrivals because they have nowhere to put the planes.

Well I probably don't need to worry about it because I seriously doubt that flight will actually happen. More likely than not I get an email tomorrow at 6am telling me that it's also canceled. Seems like nothing is going from LAX to western Canada right now.

I agree with the above that the train is a non starter. We're considering renting a car one way and just driving up. There is a concern in our group, and I have no idea how true this is, that California vehicles are not shipped with fluids that are able to withstand temperatures much below freezing and thus we cannot do this, but it sounds highly implausible to me.

I looked at this - fly to Seattle and just head across the border. But it was even more of a hassle, like 17 hour layover at DFW, etc.

Why are you not assuming that I am the John Candy character in this buddy comedy? I look a lot more like him than Steve Martin at least.

Yes, but can you play the Sousaphone?

I am afraid not, but I apprenticed under Jack Black himself at Saxaboom.

Awesome, glad I did this trip. Sigh.
YVR was shutdown for all departures most of the day yesterday, save for a few international flights.

Unfortunate, but in this case I think it really is the weather that is the cause. Massive snow on the coast and bitter cold on the prairies. Nothing is moving fast, if at all.

My job, my company. I am not religious but I'm ready to start praying that I get hired at the jobs I applied for in Cape Breton. I desperately need a change
