I think she dies by the Ricin, just not sure it's on purpose from Walt
keeping the Ricin, the fact that her smoking was specifically pointed out twice (by Marie and in the scene at the end)

Well that's the point isn't it, the cigarette hasn't technically been used yet.

Technically no, but it was used as a major plot device already.

Yeah they won't use the cigarette again. Writers are too good for that slop.

Why bother making such a deal about keeping it then?
I wouldn't be upset if they used it, nor would I consider it lazy writing. For the most part we don't watch Breaking Bad for big surprises. This isn't Usual Suspects or Fight Club or Memento with a big twist. We watch it for compelling story, amazing acting, and believable characters.
Just because we might see the cigarette coming doesn't make it a bad thing.

Hopefully a self aware red herring. To me it wouldn't be the fact of it being guessed at early that would disappoint, it would be the fact that they went back to the same well. I'd prefer something new and interesting.

If you want to find a Chekhov gun in that episode then it's clearly the watch.

The cigarette could be a red herring, that's also possible. Or another fake out, like it was the first time, probably even more possible. Though the cigarette wasn't in the latest episode.
And yes, the watch is probably going to have more significance than just a gift from Jesse and the 'Walt's a ticking time bomb' analogy to end the show.

I dont feel that sorry for Skylar. She screwed around with Ted behind Walt's back and then she gave him $600,000 of Walt's hard earned money.

Well if she hadn't given him the money she would be investigated, and that would lead to Walt being investigated.
Though something tells me that may happen anyway.

Perhaps there's a tracking /incendiary device in the watch put in there by Mike/Jesse who see Walt as spinning out of control.

I think people are reading too much into the watch scene at the end.
I think the purpose of the watch was to show two things. First, it contrasts the difference the effect of the money has had on Walt and Jesse. Jesse realizes he has more than enough money and has become generous with it. Walt has become increasingly greedy and just wants more and more. In one quick scene, it makes Jesse more likeable and Walt less.
Secondly, it enables that speech Walt gave to Skylar about how the man that gave him the watch once wanted him dead. It's a way to cleverly show the viewer the why Walt has essentially ignored most of the obvious disdain Skylar has shown him until this point. He's so convinced he's doing nothing wrong that he fully expects her to come around.
As for focusing on the watch at the end, I took it more as a hint that Walt's time is ticking and things will sonn come to a head rather than the watch will later be used as a plot device.

I agree with all that. I definitely don't think there is a tracking device it in or anything like that. But it may show up again in some way.

That chekovs gun thing was a good read.
Surprised that the teddy bear that fell from the plane wasn't mentioned. First, the shots of it floating in the water, focused on the bear's one good eye. Then it floating into the filter, Walt finding it in the pool filter, then the Mexican twins waiting for him to come out of the shower and it sitting on the bed with them, Walt finding it when he gets out of the shower and putting it in his pocket, then moving out and finding it under the bed in his apartment, and we seem to have seen the last of it.
Plus the parallels of the bear, half face scorched , floating in the pool, for-shadowing the future of mr. fring?
Here are some thoughts from the fast forward to open this season (Walt at Dennys, M-60)
- a year later, his 52nd birthday alone, tells waitress drove in from New Hampshire for business.
- Is Walt on the run? wouldn't he change his identity and birthday (showed ID to waitress)? He was called Mr. Lambert, it could be he uprooted the family to New Hampshire to appease family, took Skylers maiden name, (Mr. Lambert), is he laying low? or something went down and is back to take care of business (i would assume he was doing some business from afar or told to retire by mike/jesse). If Walt was 'on the run' I would assume Saul could get him a better identity that couldn't be traced so easily (same b-day/skylers maiden name)
all in all an incredible show , giving viewers much to think about, i find myself re watching episodes and finding little nuances each time!

I decided to watch the pilot again and heard Walt use a really interesting analogy when explaining chemistry:
"...molecules change their bonds, elements they combine and change into compounds. Thats, thats all of life. its the constant, its the cycle, its solutution....dissolution just...over and over and over. It is growth... then decay....then transformation! Its facsinating, really."
That basically describes the entire life of Walt:
Growth - life & beginning a family.
Decay - Cancer
Transformation - Heisenberg.
Its at the exact 6:00 minute mark of the first episode (Pilot) on Netflix (not sure if it is different on dvd's)...
i heard it and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Finally caught up, missed the last two episodes live. A couple of the most intense episodes of the series.
I don't want this show to end.

Re: the teddy bear in Season 2 and the show's incredible nuances...
I don't think this was ever mentioned on CP, but I remember finding this out after watching the Season 2 finale:
