Keep in mind that the pedal linked is the optional "real" drum kit.

The kit that comes standard with Rock Band 2 is supposed to be pretty similar to Rock Band 1's.

Similar yes, but also improved. It's quieter and has a steel-reinforced pedal, better bounce, and velocity-sensitive pads.

Looking into that ION Drum Rocker, it's $300 for the kit and that doesn't include the electronic drum module. The one they recommend on the website (Alesis DM5) retails for $350 online. $650 total and you probably want to get a kick pedal for it too which brings the price up even more.

So those are add-ons you have to buy?

GH:WT supports rock band instruments, so if you already have rock band, you don't need any more gear.

Yeah, it's been stated that the GH:WT will have a seperate drum chart on all songs so that the rock band kit can work. I really hope that it doesn't effect the difficulty too much.

Here is a preview of the new drums and guitar for Rock Band 2. http://www.gamespot.com/features/619...ml?tag=nl.e577

It looks like they have put some serious planning into them this time, and finally....wireless!

Could someone post a recap? I'm at work and can't access.

I can post some of the Guitar Hero setlist later on this weekend, I think I know about 70/94 confirmed tracks.

- guitar and drums now wireless
- microphone the same
- new calibration for lcd's

Drums
- compatible with RB1 and future RB games
- Velocity sensitive drum pads will emit different sounds depending on how they're hit
- New materials to make less external noise
- They were able to get the sound to basically zero but it felt odd, so they used a material that would give some sound
- foot pedal is metal and won't slide away as easy
- drums come with support for cymbal add-on
- no real difference in notes for cymbals, a blue note can be hit by either the blue drum head or the blue cymbal ... cymbals will emit a crash sound
- cymbals sold separately from mad katz for $15 each or a set for $30

Guitars
- upgraded paint job
- new buttons inaudible (sweet)
- strum bar doesn't need to travel as far, making strumming easier
- harmonix employees swear by using an actual pick
- break-off neck for transport and storage
- more stable feeling, less toy-like
- battery door no longer requires a screwdriver (what a novel idea!)
- less sensitive sensors for overdrive to eliminate accidental usage
- Mad Katz, Fender and Ion will all make instruments to suit different needs

I much prefer Harmonix for these games, but the cymbal add-ons seem weak to me. Really wish there was a way to give them their own distinct "notes". Also, Mad Katz is a piss-poor peripheral developer in my eyes, and I wish they would get a company with a little higher standard of quality to make their stuff.

Thanks a bunch!

This looks good. I think I'll have to get it for my 360 though, since I already have two guitars for it. I don't know if I need to get the cymbols though, that just seems like a money grabber (ala Guitar Skins).
