Parekh sets up an OT winner and follows it up with a Tkachuk-esque shot to the defender en route to the celebration. I love that he has that pest attribute as well. He's going to drive our rivals crazy for years.
If we trade Andersson, seems like Parekh could bring a lot of the same elements

That little hit at the defender after they scored is 110% Tkachuk.

I actually think Brzustewicz is more like Andersson. Parekh is the X Factor we've never had.

This is another reason why I am in the trade Andersson camp - love the guy, but I think both Parekh and Brzustewicz will be ready for a full time roster spot by the time Andersson's next contract begins.

It sure seems like they can only keep one of Weegar or Andersson. Weegar is already signed, cheaper, and they fill very similar roles on and off ice. The haul you’d get for Andersson this summer strengthens the club that you’ll be able to put in front of Dustin Wolf when he’s 26-34, when they can really do all their damage.

With Brusty knocking on the door, and Huska directly comparing him to Andersson, I’d say he’s the Ras replacement.

But Parekh is the most jaw-dropping offensive talent I’ve seen the Flames draft since Johnny. I literally stopped scouting him at one point ahead of the draft because I thought there was no way he was making it passed Chicago.

(And he shouldn’t have)

IMO, he’s his own thing.

People were saying how pissed he was not being selected for the world jrs and will use that to fuel him.

I think him dropping to 9th pissed him off more than the Hockey Canada snub.

He really isn't though, at least in my opinion. He's not NHL ready yet. My guess is with a full AHL year under his belt and an offseason he might have a chance to play a few next year.

Poirier/Soloyvyov are much closer to the NHL than he.

I'm on board with trading Andersson if the return is right, but the team has to be a little concerned with naming Brzustewicz or Parekh immediate successors as defenders usually need (and should be given) more time to develop.

Andersson took six or seven years after he was drafted to develop, and was well served having Gio/Brodie/Hanifin and even Hamonic ahead of him and able to shelter him. It really wasn't until he learned how important fitness was after his third year -- something that Giordano would have modelled for him -- where he took his first step to being a regular.

I'm not saying they shouldn't deal Andersson because of this, but I would think this is an important part of the discussion and decision.
