Is Norris voting from 2 years ago a valid way to determine who is the best defenseman now?

I don't put much value into the Norris voting for this year telling us much about who the best defensemen in the league are with how poor the votes have been in the past.

No, but it does show that he has been in the conversation.

The most likely landing spot for one of our D has to be NJ. They are hurting for D and Goaltending. They have the studs up front but cant keep the puck out of their net.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Weekes said Dallas may be one of the teams looking in to Zadorov, in addition to TO and NJ. Dallas has some nice pieces.

Only issue with Dallas is those nice pieces are sub 6’. Need to get bigger. I think that’s the vision that conroy is executing.

Some people yes, I think a lot of people laugh at the Norris Trophy voting as it seems to have become more of a who scores the most points versus who is the best overall defenseman. Which is why I said if you value the Norris vote then yes it would be part of the conversation but I think enough people don't that it isn't just a given.

it also is from 2 seasons ago when he was on a different team, not sure how relevant to the point that Weegar is not close to a top 8 defenseman now. That isn't a slight on him I like him, glad we have and want to keep him but the debate for him would start at is he close to a top 20 (which might be a stretch) not top 8.

Darnell Nurse was 7th in Norris voting that year, two points above Weeger.

I love trading him to Dallas. They have good prospects and they make the road to the cup harder for Vancouver.

Let's hope other teams mostly look at analytics instead of watching him play:

Again, I think they should adjust their model, but hopefully this increases his trade value.

LOL. No side in this fantasy discussion, but it's funny how Nurse is a trump card in so many debates.

"X has the worst contract in the NHL". "Oh, yeah? What about Darnell Nurse".

"X is the most overrated player" "Oh, yeah? What about Darnell Nurse".

First round pick and 1 year salary dump is where my price would be. Go ahead and give us your 2026 pick I don't care.

I do think we could certainly see something more of a roster reset rather than a full rebuild. I do believe the Flames will look to move their 4 pending UFA’s and likely need to take the futures based returns. In addition I believe that one of Vladar or Markstrom will be dealt but I only see them trading Markstrom is if a team steps up and is looking to acquire a top end goalie so it will not be a cap dump type of situation.

I believe the goal in the back half of the season after the trades will be made to really see what they have with some of their prospects in the big show. They can take multiple assets into the draft and either bolster their prospect pool or make moves for younger players looking for a change of scenery with the thoughts they can compete for a playoff spot next year with a much younger roster that has upside but still have veterans like Huberdeau, Kadri, Backlund, Coleman, Mangiapane, Weegar, Andersson and possibly Markstrom

They should adjust their model after we use it to sucker some team in overpaying for Zadorov.

But yes every time i see their posts they seem wildly out of whack.

Markstrom is one of the worst goalies in the league, and on one of the worst possible contracts. NOBODY is taking him off our hands.
