I first took an interest in hockey around the 94 playoffs and I considered myself a Canucks fan, since I was cheering for them to win the Cup that year.
The first game I ever went to was at around 7 years old against the Mighty Ducks. My Dad brought me to the game (he passed away last year so this memory is even more special to me now), and he took me into the Fanatic before that game and bought me a red pedestal jersey. That was it for me, I was a Flames fan and so began a lifelong obsession. I was racing downstairs every morning to read the paper and check the stats (hard to believe there was a time before TV highlights running non stop).
I also have a Blaze magazine from that first game where it talked about the teams switch to the new jersey that season. I should dig it out and post it here.
I remember being at one game and my Dad telling me that this “Iginla kid” was the next star player on our team. I looked at him, thought he was crazy and said “Valeri Bure is way better!”. I remember being at the first game Brathwaite played for the team and he shut out the Stars 1-0. There’s lots of great memories of the team in those jerseys despite the poor record.
For me this jersey is a must buy, as there is an argument to be made that it saved me from being a Canucks fan. There is a generation of Flames fans who fell in love with the team while they wore this version of the jersey, and so it can certainly be worn 4 times as a throwback and then put back in the tickle trunk.

It's clear to me that our loss to Buffalo is a punishment for this monstrosity of a jersey that's based on an era of the worst Flames teams.

Exactly.
Moved here in 99', first jersey was a home white pedestal, met Iginla for the first time (pictured below), got it signed and is one of my most prized Flames pieces to this day.

I like it. Maybe more than blasty. It’s got the NBA retro feel which I dig.

Ugly is ugly! The pedistal was the worst jersey the Flames ever wore.

One thing I would have like to see was keeping the shoulders white instead of red like the OG Reverse retro.
Just flip the black and red.

Those embroidered Cs on the hats to the lower right are as bad as the jersey. Tons of awful in that pic.

The original Heritage Classic jerseys were 20x worse than either pedestal jersey

The slightly different shade/reflection of the black kills me.
Can't believe they couldn't figure out a way to have the entire front panel the sublimated material and then have the crest on top of that.
The crest is beautiful though and love that white crest on the black jersey on these jerseys and the Blasty RR. That needs to be the next third jersey once we get through these nostalgia trips.

Anyone know if they're going with the small flaming "C" or the Atlanta "A" for the captain/alternate patches?

Neither. Just standard letters.
Although they don't have a captain anyway.
