If Johnny leaves, I would sign Malkin and give it one last shot before Sutter retired

I’d prefer Johnny with Malkin.
Gaudreau Malkin Toffoli
Dube Lindholm Mangiapane
Coleman Backlund Jarnkrok
I wish

I'd be surprised if he retired, why walk away from close to $6M?

Kassian? I mean, he's clearly an idiot so there's that.

I'd fully expect Malkin to be signing in Washington, not Calgary.
I believe Backstrom is out long term so Washington will absolutely be players.
As far as attracting UFAs, I think Johnny being here is a big component - he would be part of the reason why players would pick to sign in Calgary. Also - generally speaking, going out and signing big ticket UFAs is not the best way to go about business. Retaining your players? That seems pretty key, but going out and landing big tickets really only works if they're legit elite players (Panarin...and hopefully not Gaudreau), and outside of Gaudreau this summer there isn't an elite player.

I agree, sounds like Backstrom career could be over with this type of an injury.
I would not be surprised to see Malkin sign in Washington

Evander Kane is going to Washington IMO
apparently Ovechkin is lobbying hard and they obviously have no issues with PR problems

I was just kidding as even if he was dumb enough to leave that money on the table his agent wouldn't be. He's likely going to be bought out in the coming weeks anyway.

@RussoHockey
According to sources, the #mnwild have traded the rights to pending restricted free agent Kevin Fiala to the #lakings for their 2022 first-round pick and University of Minnesota captain Brock Faber

What are the chances the Swedish Mafia ( Lindholm Markstrom Backlund) have convinced Filip Forsberg to sign in Calgary ? Let Gaudreau walk and then use his money to do so? I would take Forsberg over Gaudreau all day long , Forsberg can handle playoff hockey a little more then Johhny in my opinion and is just as skilled. I really could see something like this happening , what do you guys think?

Would rather retain Johnny and trade Tkachuk.

But with Roe v. Wade being overturned, will he want to play in the States again?

Half of the US still have legal abortion, some even late term
I am sure Kane can afford the bus ticket to get one
