Ha ha ha. Spector on 960 trying to say that Smith's 10 consecutive playoff losses isn't fair because some of the Winnipeg losses were in OT.

Last I checked, overtime losses still counted as losses in the playoffs. Perhaps that's the next thing the Oilers mgmt will lobby for.

You got this LA. Just throw pucks toward the net from anywhere. When Smith is off his game he is without a doubt the worst goalie in the league and it usually takes him months to recover. So literally any puck towards the net is a legit high-danger scoring chance on Smith right now. If the kings get 10 shots in the first period tonight, at least 3 will go in. Book it.
Then just stay out of the box. Game over.

Smith played well in a majority of those 10 games. But he was also only the second best goalie in most of them.
And he did lose them all. He hasn’t stolen any games in that stretch.

Pulling Smith in favor of Kostkinen is a risky move this early in the series I think they need to go back to Smith but I also feel like Smith is about to go cold and let in some stinkers.
The best that could happen tonight is the Oilers play better but still lose to thanks to Smith giving LA the 2-0 lead and all the confidence heading home

Is Archibald the odd man out when they go with the no good 11 and 7?
11/7 is ridiculously no good

Edit: Also hard to believe that's a playoff defense group. Looks like a blue line you'd see at the spengler cup, minus Nurse.

Why are the Oilers wearing their practice jerseys in games?

It's awkward when your primary jersey set is so fugly that you resign to running with your laser tag thirds in the playoffs.

I thought the same thing from what I've read the point of making pylon orange the new color of the home jersey was to mimic the C of red. From game one mission accomplished the place is covered in orange jerseys, yet the team comes out in blue 3rds?

I honestly think that Kostikinen gives the Oilers a better chance to win a series. Which I find so amusing because he doesn't give them a chance to win a series!

Character aside, Kane, for just over 2.1 million, is a great signing.... he has 22 goals, 39 points in just over a half season, that's comparable to adding a Lindholm for less cap hit - something the Oilers' desperately needed and requiring nothing they didn't have (cap space and assets). The big questions was, could the room and leadership handle it, and since they had neither to start with, it couldn't do any damage, a gamble all other NHL teams were not willing to take, and righteously so. I think the Oilers were the only team that Kane could have made better with little or no risk of making worse, you can't break something more, once it's broken, it's broken, and the Oilers were certainly that halfway through this season.
