Glad you had a great time! It feels right having this team in a good location. Losing with Wheeler of all people scoring the OT winner is typical coyotes luck but what can you do?
Onto the vote in Nov!

"luck" lol the team sucks and is trying to suck

CSEC…this is how you design an arena and entertainment district. Still can’t believe that we basically had an arena deal complete and were weeks away from breaking ground but we had never seen an interior rendering of the arena. Such a bush league proposal from a bush league ownership group. I won’t argue their commitment to building and placing a quality team on the ice, but their off ice decisions and ideas are about as amateur as you can get.

This mirrors my thoughts exactly. Why have a civic vote unless there is more to what they are asking for.

Yeah. This is truly an odd move.
Referendums are usually a failure so my hope meter is back to 5% probability. In the age of misinformed voters. This thing is on thin ice.
Hope the rumors are true about Meruelo having a plan B ready to go are true but there’s no denying the value of this land in Tempe as being ideal

I think it's appropriate that the voters will be able to vote against this boondoggle. The sheer amount of money ... hundreds of millions of dollars... that has been vaporized trying to make hockey work in Arizona is astonishing. And it's the taxpayers who have to foot that bill. Not ownership or the league.

I think the in-market skepticism is going to be based on the Coyotes having a high-level plan, but not thoroughly explaining the financing piece of it beyond hand-waving that they have the money. The City of Tempe graders gave the Coyotes low marks on the financial side of their proposal (but still recommended going ahead with it), and that will be something people want to see detailed more thoroughly before getting on-board with it.

You’re expecting the average voter to be looking for a detailed financial proposal? Since when does the Joe citizen look for that kind of detail?
If the Coyotes haven’t presented detailed support for their proposal, how irresponsible is it for elected officials to turn to a referendum where the details won’t matter.
What a cluster.

I agree voters are likely uninformed but from what Freeway is saying, no one is very informed on what Meruelo is presenting.

The Rangers game looked really empty for a lot of the game. Not sure if it's just when I was watching, but hundreds of empty seats in many sections.

From my vantage point there was only one section that was noticeably bare. There were a few empty rows here and there. Was a declared sellout though.
Got a decent quote from Reaves after the game:

If that's Reaves toning it down for a media quote, I can only imagine what they're saying on the plane heading out after the game.

The question will be: Do you want a trash dump or have someone willing to pay to remediate the land and end-cap the Lake District with something great. That's the main reason it's never been developed before. $40 million that the Coyotes are paying for.
Apparently the Coyotes have offered even more concessions that make this agreement a no lose for the City which is probably why the City of Tempe may go the route of a public vote. It's so good that it's almost a sure bet that it'll pass, even better than the previously announced proposal that still garnered 60% of the populace to approve.
But also, Coyotes... so it's going to fail

Interesting what Reaves said about the good ice. Maybe mentioned before, but Pierre Luc Dubois said exactly the same thing a couple nights earlier. Are they told to say something nice? Or is the ice that noticeably amazing that two players on two nights say the same thing?
Bruins play in Arizona Dec 9th. Marchand doesn't give a ####....he will say what he thinks.
