Fantastic for Denmark!

Coming back from that opening game loss to Finland, losing their best offensive talent in the worst possible way. Fighting back to finish 2nd in the group!

Goodbye Russia!

UEFA has Finland in 3rd, at -2. Is that right? But I don't think it matters.

That feels justified for Denmark.

They gave Belgium a tough match, got a great result against Russia, and IMO they likely beat Finland under normal circumstances for that game.

Really happy to see them through in 2nd.

So Ukraine get to sit around and wait.

First, they need Croatia and Scotland to draw (which eliminates both teams)
Failing that. They need Spain to beat Slovakia AND Poland to not win.
Failing that. They need France to beat Portugal by 3.

so dumb. Doubt UEFA care because, you know, money and all - but it really is a stupid setup.

There needs to be a better 24 team format but it's been 35 years.

The answer is byes for the 4 top teams, instead of weak 3rd place teams making the knockout round but, you know, money. Cash is king.

So with mount very likely out tomorrow, can jack graelish get a start?

That athletic article today about their 'relationship' doesnt sound promising

Waiting for the one on sancho too

Imagine being so incredibly deep and world class that Jadon sancho hasn't played a minute in 2 games!

The greatest team in the world that must be! Right?!?...... right?!?!

24 teams is such an awkward number to deal with.

- 4 groups of 6: Probably doesn't work as you need to extend the tournament at least a week to make up for the 2 extra group games.

- 6 Groups of 4: Get this weird situation where you need to take a certain amount of 3rd place teams.

- 8 groups of 3: A bit weird since each group can only play one game at a time. You still need 3 match days per group, but everyone would get a day off during the group stage.

If you want to stick with 24 teams then I do wonder if 8 groups of 3 teams wouldn't be the best way to do it.

Every team plays 2 round robin games within the 8 groups. Top 8 teams from those games automatically qualify for the round of 16.

Remaining 16 teams play in a "Play-In" game with the 8 winners advancing to the round of 16.

It's all about money anyway, so just make it a 32 team tournament.

Yes you'll get the Germanies and Frances of the world killing teams 11-0 in the group stage, but you get a nice clean cut R16, QF, SF and F.

More matches = more money. And that's all the overlords care about. Plus who doesn't want to see Azerbaijan upset England?

The teams wouldn't even be any worse than the teams already here, if you look at the next 4 highest ranked teams by FIFA rankings:

Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Romania, Norway, Greece, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Those teams wouldn't be any worse than what is here already.
