Pittsburgh should keep their pick this year. You just know the guy after Edmonton picks is gonna be good.

I am just glad Gary was able to confirm all the logos....

...and that Oilers, Pens and Maple Leafs didn't win.

Gotta think they will for sure. I doubt they plan on picking that high again next draft.

That looked more than suspicious. The logos should inside the balls then drawn.

I think it's the opposite. If Vancouver missed the playoffs, the pick is deferred to 2021 and for ARI, I believe it was a 2nd that became a 1st because they made the playoffs?

How fun would it be to be young, rich and still somewhat anonymous living in Manhattan? Damn lucky kid.

19th OA is still a good pick for a faller, but 31st OA is fine too

not the worst result, that's for sure...

They did get Kakko last year, but not like they've living off the teat of the NHL welfare system...unlike some of the other teams

Their own pick hasn't been in the top half of the first round since they took Jordan Staal 2nd overall in 2006. The last time they had a top-20 pick was when they picked 8th overall in 2012 -- with the pick they got from Carolina for Staal.

If they had beaten Montreal, their pick would be 25th overall.

It would be very surprising if they gave up this year's pick.

Would be nice to know all the balls are the same, with no alterations, etc.

Could have a bunch of blank balls and have them numbered/coded there live, which would help eliminate any suspicion.

Merely identifying the logos does absolutely nothing.

This is a perfect outcome for the commissioner and admittedly the league, but I hope they came to that outcome fairly.

Rangers are one of the clubs who has never had a first OV (in the modern draft era), #2 last year, and prior to that their highest was Brendl at 4 I think?

I think all the balls should have a number and be placed in a Kevin Lowe piñata. Then the GMs have to beat the piñata until the balls fall out at which point, they are scramble to grab one. Could make it interesting by having 7 balls instead of 8, thereby making them really have to try hard to grab one.

Then place the balls in the bingo machine and draw them.

I'm sure it's monitored/audited by a CA firm.

I'm glad it wasn't the Leafs or Pens, and I'm extremely, over the moon glad it wasn't the Coilers.

But I still can't find it within myself to be glad for New York when they have been poaching top end talent from other teams for years.

Screw the Rangers, and screw Adam Fox.

Or they should have used the same 1000 4-numbers combinations they did for the regular draft lottery. With equal weighting.

Meh, as a Flames fan you can’t really be unhappy about this. Oilers lose and no one in the west won. He will be a good player in the class of a Taylor Hall, certainly not generational. I think Ottawa’s 3 and 5 will have a higher impact, maybe they will trade.

This. Thanks.

Plus when do you ever see a Hart caliber free agent sign a deal with a rebuilding team?

Rangers get enough freebies.

Better than the oilers though for sure.

And the team that got it, has never had a 1st overall pick in the modern era or recent success.

I am actually shocked when anyone but an Oilers fan wasn't repulsed by the idea of the Oilers getting yet another 1st overall pick.

They do need a C more than LW.

Why has Askarov dropped so far in most mock drafts??
